Microsoft Power Point programming question?

If I were to create a power point on my home computer that has Microsoft power point 2003, could I open/run this presentation on my school computer which has Microsoft power Point 2007? Thank you.

Microsoft Power Point programming question?
Yes. And to be sure everything worked exactly as you created it on your machine, you could create a package from within Powerpoint that will include a Powerpoint2003 viewer.

Check the Package for CD option under the File menu for info. (It says Package for CD, but you can also write it to a thumb drive or any other directory.)

Microsoft access on new macbook pros?
virtual pc is outdated. you want parallels.. .to run windows in native mode.
Reply:You can run Windows on the MacBook Pros in Bootcamp. Or this might help

http://ask.metafilter.com/24710/Microsof...

Filemaker Pro might also be a suitable alternative

http://www.filemaker.com/
Reply:Microsoft doesn't make it for Mac....they suck.

The way around it is to buy virtual PC for your Mac.....but I would check....if your computer is brand new, it may already have virtual PC in it.

Call the Apple Store and ask them.

Good Luck!

Microsoft apologizes, Undertow for free, and your thoughts?

For those that haven’t heard the news, Microsoft is offering Undertow, free of charge from this Wednesday to Saturday, as an apology for the Live service acting up during the holidays. Many people are considering this as compensation for the service that they are paying for and not receiving. However, the game will be offered to Silver (non-paying) accounts as well. The “apology” is meant to be a form of compensation. If you were a paying member of X-Box Live (Gold account), does this appease you? Do you agree with the multimillion dollar class action lawsuit filed against Microsoft for charging subscribers even when their servers couldn’t completely handle the influx of new users?

Microsoft apologizes, Undertow for free, and your thoughts?
Microsoft has been a monopoly for so long they are getting sloppy about abusing their own customers. Its a shame the government doesn't step in and find them guilty of this behavior, but the Bush administration seems happy about giving them a press pass over our rights.
Reply:i honestly didnt know anything about this until i read your post, i have a gold account, and reading this kinda pisses me off. what is undertow? (email me please)
Reply:The MS TOS for Live says:

16. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY

We provide the Service "as-is," "with all faults" and "as available." The Microsoft Parties give no express warranties, guarantees or conditions. You may have additional consumer rights under your local laws that this contract cannot change. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, workmanlike effort and non-infringement.

Look at what it LEGALLY says. “We provide the Service ‘as-is,’ ‘with all faults’ and ‘as available.’" MS is saying they are providing a “service” that you paid for, but it may have a few glitches and bugs here and there. When Live shuts down the way that it did, MS was NOT providing a “service,” therefore has no right to charge it’s subscribers.

Secondly, notice “You may have additional consumer rights under your local laws that this contract cannot change.” Every state in the US has something called consumer fraud laws. These laws state that a company can not charge for services they aren’t providing the way they advertise. Remember, this TOS is written with a worldwide market in mind. US customers are protected by consumer fraud laws to stop companies from charging for services they do not provide.

Next, “To the extent permitted by law, we exclude the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, workmanlike effort and non-infringement.” Consumer fraud laws have accommodations to the “as is” and “no warranty” disclaimers. It is called “as advertised”. If I advertise that I will remodel your bathroom with certain materials, and I come in an do differently do you think you have to pay me for the work? Nope. Warranties are guarantees that things will work a certain way, but with “as advertised” a statement of a minimum amount of service is being made. A contract of sorts. You pay the annual/ monthly subscription rate and Live will have service running for you to use.

Continue to read down on to section 17 of the TOS. If MS knew that they would never have to pay compensation for service because of section 16, why would the very first sentence of section 17 say, “You can recover from the Microsoft Parties only direct damages up to an amount equal to your Service fee for one month.” if they knew they would never have any liabilities?

This isn’t a case of crap happens. It is a case of MS outselling their service’s ability. They weren’t providing the services that they advertised. Plain and simple. Regardless of what MS will tell you about their “no warranty” policy, the laws of bait and switch apply. You can’t get a sale offering something, service or goods, and demand payment when you don’t deliver.

As for the game being compensation? No, however I get the feeling that MS would like it to pacify enough people into letting it rest. It can’t be considered compensation if it is offered to users under non-payment conditions. This whole thing is for MS to save face. It is a nice gesture, but by no means does it devoid their liability or obligations to their customers.

Microsoft word?

i recently bought a new laptopand it does not have microsoft office on it

and right now i need microsoft word

is there anyway that i can get it onto my laptop today?

Microsoft word?
Quick solution: download OpenOffice for FREE from www.openoffice.org. Its word processor, called Write, is 100% compatible with MS Word. The download is over 90 megs, so it'll take some time, but that's the quickest way to get you up and running.

Later on you can decide if you want to shell out for MS Office.
Reply:Open Office- It is absolutely free and compatible with MS Office. You can download it here http://download.openoffice.org/2.2.0/

Microsoft Clip Art for commercial use?

I have spent hours trailing through Microsoft's websites, trying to find out what I need to do to get permission to use some of their "free" clip art icons, in my book.

I phoned their customer services on 0870 6010 100

%26amp; was told by a person in their Licensing section,

to accept their "User Agreement" %26amp; that is all I need to do.

I've done that (%26amp; I have also accredited Microsoft)

but I am still not sure about this- I don't want to end up being sued!!

Do I have to do anything else??

HELP!!!!

Microsoft Clip Art for commercial use?
As long as you understand the terms of the user agreement and followed the instructions then you have complied and are ok.

If the agreement says each image must be accompanied by microsofts name and the copyright logo, thats what you have to do.

Read the User Agreement again and check you've understood all the conditions in it.

Microsoft word ect...............?

A friend of mine downloaded from a disk, microsoft word, power point, microsoft office ect, now I need to know if there is a site I can download that tells me how to use all of this stuff, I,m not one to read from a book, thanks.

Microsoft word ect...............?
get help from http://www.microsoft.com
Reply:It really depends on what you want to use it for. For example Word can be used by anyone able to type (even really slowly) to create documents and write letters. but to someone that is able they can use it to create mass mailing, inbed pictures and many other things. Power point is probably something the average user would never use, but it is a great program for presentations. Same for excel, the average user would rarely use it, but someone that has knows how to use it can create charts, input formulas and make it do exactly what they want to. So again. unless you know WHAT you want to do, you are not going to LEARN how to do it. You should just spend some time exploring the programs and playing with it.
Reply:Use the help menu on the top toolbar and go to Microsoft Office online. Alternatively just play with it and see what you can get out of it, that's how i learnt.

Microsoft corporation put out an update that nixed my computer.?

Now every few seconds I get a popup window that says :

Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to initialize the store directory. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft support for further assistance. (0x80004005)

I looked for help on the outlook site and there was a note that gave instructions on how to remove one update but it also said if it's not done right you may loolse all contacts. This does not seem right to me. I know they just released Vista and a new office suite. Now they put out an update that screws up my PC every few seconds this widow pops up I can not get any work done. so What I am suposed to do??Take it in for repairs just to be told I need the new release put out by Microsoft and it will only cost me a couple hundred bucks. PLEASE someone tell me that there is a simpler solution.

Microsoft corporation put out an update that nixed my computer.?
Well, first of all, stop assuming Microsoft has it in for you, and only you, and is trying to force you to buy something your computer won't handle. This particular error code appears in a lot of areas. You probably have a corrupted download patch, and therefore have some registry errors. You could start by cleaning the registry and see if that doesn't fix it. You can also safely uninstall the latest patches then download them again, if you stop complaining long enough. Use Microsoft's Live OneCare Cleanup Scanner to safely and quickly clean the registry and reset the System Restore points.

http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/cente...

If that doesn't fix it, then click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and the Show updates box at the top. When the list loads, find the latest Windows updates and click to remove them. After they are removed, close the Control Panel and restart the computer. Then go back to the Windows Update site and download them again.
Reply:Extract the serial numbers for all software.

Back up any data.

Wipe the hard drive, and re-install everything except the update.
Reply:Your problem is not the update.

Your operating system is defective. I recommend replacing

it with one of:

http://fedora.redhat.com

http://www.opensuse.org

http://www.debian.org

http://www.ubuntu.org

http://www.slackware.org

http://www.freebsd.org

http://www.opensolaris.org

or if you can spend some money:

http://www.apple.com
Reply:Before trying their remove process for the update, do a printout of your contacts. That why if you should lose them (and it said you might - not that you would) you can re-enter them. Then do the uninstall.

You can also try going back to a restore point before the update was installed.
Reply:The solution is simple. Just open run from start menu and type msconfig then select start up tab and uncheck all the boxes.

IF that doesn't work then it's always wise to install a fresh copy of windows(remember to back up all ur data from My Documents folder)
Reply:you can go to your last restore point. this will roll back your system to the state it was before the update was installed. I am not sure the exact steps, but you should be able to find it on microsofts website. just do a search for system restore or restore points. good luck!
Reply:Since Microsoft cant fix the problems with Microsoft, you and I, with our limited resources, cant either. The solution is an obvious one:

Dump Microsoft and their overpriced products forever by getting Kubuntu for free at www.kubuntu.org

There is also OpenOffice. Its a free Office Suite in the opensource community

http://www.openoffice.org
Reply:you8 have to go buy it and install it
Reply:yea microsoft. Just use open office dude. Its free and works just like word.
Reply:I bet there are lots of Microsoft Office Word packages being advertised to loving homes on Ebay

The new 2007 version is fantastic, here's a link to it (but you can search and lots of other sites will come up)

This is a trial for the 2007

Microsoft sam??

I want my computer to "talk to me". the speech part of my control panel is set at microsoft sam. for one, i dont want the microsoft sam voice...and i dont know how to make the voice talk when i want i to.... help anyone??

Microsoft sam??
You can install a wide variety of packs or software that brings speech synthesizers (voices) including Microsoft Office 2007 but if you want an easy change, just to make things as simple as possible, go to Microsoft download page, search all downloads and type "speech 5" click in the result "Speech Software Development Kit 5.1" and scroll down to the almost end. You can choose the last option is more than complete, but I suggest you choose the 4th "SpeechSDK51.exe" is pretty much what you need. You will get "Mary" or "Mike" which are similar to Sam, and you will get "Sample TTS" which is more Acceptable. Install them and try them, You may remove them as simple as going to add remove programs in your control panel. Reply if you are having problems
Reply:Sam comes with XP by default. By installing MS Reader (https://www.microsoft.com/reader/en/upda... you can add Lernout %26amp; Hauspie Michael and Lernout %26amp; Hauspie Michelle. You canchoose which voice you wish to use with the Control Panel's Speech dialog box.

Then, in the Search Microsoft.com box, type in "Intellitype Keyboard Pro" (without quotes) and sift through the results for your specific model keyboard and OS. Your IOGear port is not a problem.

Microsoft Question?

Here's my problem--I accidently let Microsoft remember my username and password for a particular site. Unfortunately, I mistyped the information. My question is how do I undo what I've done and get Microsoft to ask me again if I want to save my info--this time correct info, of course!

Microsoft Question?
tools internet options delete your saved passwords

you might be required to delete your .net passport info if it thats where u entered it (ctrl panel-user accounts *top left*)
Reply:You can clear all your passwords very easily by going to the Tools menu and selecting "Internet Options". Now hit the "Delete" button and you will get several options of things you can delete. Just click the "Delete Passwords" button.

This excerpt is taken from the link below and describes how to delete a single password.

Removing a stored user name and password is pretty simple. Navigate to the site in question. When it prompts you for the user name and password, click in the user name box and press the Down Arrow. This will show all the user names stored for the particular site (usually just one). Press the Down Arrow until the name to be removed is highlighted, and then press the Del key. Windows will ask whether you want to delete the user name and password. Click on Yes and they're gone.

Good Luck
Reply:go to tat site..when u press the first letter you get the list of options...jus scroll to the entry and delete using DELETE key...now again reenter with the option remember my password set...

Microsoft Millenium Edition?

Is it possible to download Microsoft 2000 on a PC with Microsoft Millennium Edition and how?

Microsoft Millenium Edition?
I used ME for years and installed 2000 and XP over the top, no problems .. you will need a disk

P.S. I will NOT be installing Vista
Reply:It is possible with a good internet connection, but you would be off getting the OS on a CD.
Reply:What is Microsoft 2000? Office? NT? Please clarify your question....

If you are talking about NT2000, you may have to order the CD.
Reply:Hi,

I guess the big question would be why? What are you looking for windows 2000 to do that ME is not doing. Maybe, depending on your needs you should consider something else.

Windows 2000 is a business network edition of windows 98. It uses the network kernel like xp, but performs not many more functions for a personal computer then xp. If you need office networking, then its a given. If you want to enhance your PC, maybe you should look elsewhere.

Microsoft has generated huge employment. But it has made science arbitrary and empirical. Is that good?

Starting from DOS Microsoft products contained lot of contradictions. While they were very particular about their syntax, they violated all syntax and grammar of the English Language. Today speaking formal and correct Engilish is

out of fashion. If language is a mark of the civilisation, then it is declining. If the subject is non mathematical, atleast they should have followed principles of syllogism and Logic. The only mathematical theory applicable - may be chaos theory. It is unfortunate that Microsoft has made maths and science irrelevant.

Microsoft has generated huge employment. But it has made science arbitrary and empirical. Is that good?
If Microsoft has done anything good or bad, it is only its great contribution to the advancement of science and technology. It has made science and mathematics more interesting and useful to the society.

Even it has given lots of power to languages like English. However, those who are addicted to the English that the Britishers taught the Indians and continue to lead life in that tradition, will find it difficult to maintain their elitist's status in this Micro-soft Era. Language is not deteriorating. Language has become more powerful because of TV, Internet, telecoms and IT (including Microsoft).

Yes, Microsoft now made many tradition, rigid and flabby English language dependant jobs irrelevant and obsolete. That is a good thing. Language is for communication, understanding and ease. That's what Microsoft has provided: people friendly communication for the masses, making elitist language dependent rent earning classes go out of business. Linguists should better learn mathematics and computer as languages to remain relevant in this era.

Microsoft and Yahoo! ?

I've been reading early reports that Microsoft is looking to discuss acquisition with Yahoo. Yahoo has been my browser homepage for 8 or 9 years now, but if they become part of Microsoft, I'm gone. Anyone else have similar feelings?

Microsoft and Yahoo! ?
Yahoo's homepage will not really change if this happens. The reason these 2 want to become business partners is because their stocks would shoot up through the roof. This would also help Yahoo compete with Google, which it is really having a hard time doing. Google bought YouTube and DoubleClick and both of those purchases are paying off bigtime. Yahoo needs to get in the game if it plans to stick around in the longrun and ever be better than Google. This will help Yahoo because Microsoft can supply better advertising and Yahoo can supply a better search for Microsoft. Microsoft's LiveSearch is absolute garbage and turns out no good search results. Yahoo's search is far superior. Really alot of good things can come from these 2 companies merging.
Reply:No not really. Sounds like you may a have a lil grudge against Microsoft. I like Microsoft overall.
Reply:I have no problems with that, actually Yahoo might benefit from Microsoft's aquisition of it, and i'm sure it won't make any difference to your browsing experience

Microsoft word issue?

I have an issue that when I open Microsoft word there is always Characters already typed on the page. To elaborate I open word from my desktop and there is text (only a few letters) from a document that I started but never finished (years ago). Now it's there all the time. And what’s even stranger is I recently changed my email settings to use Microsoft word as an editor. Now it's even in there, same text.

Microsoft word issue?
What leeb001 suggests will save the document as a new template, but won't correct the current one (normal.dot). Do this instead

1.Find your Normal.Dot template. On my machine, it's in the C:\Documents and Settings\My Username\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates directory.

2.Now, the fast way would be to delete this file and let Word re-establish it from scratch, but that might also get rid of many other settings you have made. I'd suggest instead deleting the bad stuff:

3.WITH NO WORD WINDOWS OPEN, right-click on the template and do an Open (not a New. New won't open the template itself; Open does.)

4.Delete all the stuff you don't want.

5.Save the file and get out of Word.

That should do the trick.
Reply:You have saved "something", as your "blank document". In other words, when Word opens, it opens a template. This template is usually blank. You accidentally saved something you did AS that template. So when you open Word, thats what it gives you as your starting page.

Try deleting all the text you see, then do a "Save As",

In the box that says "save as type", change that to "Document Template." That should fix the problem. And save.

Microsoft Programming Languages? Visual Basic, Visual Studio .NET, etc. Please help!?

I use to program in Visual Basic 6, however three to four years ago I stopped. I haven't kept up w/the latest technologies and over the course of the past few weeks (I'm returning to programming) I've noticed several new options. Visual Studio use to be a compilation of all the Microsoft programming languages bundled in one package. Is that still the case w/.NET ? I haven't seen Microsoft Studio other than as individual packages that are language specific. I've always wanted to design software for the web and I came across this product labeled Visual WebGui that uses WinForms w/Visual Studio, but again I haven't found a Visual Studio. Am I wrong? Please help me understand the differences between Visual Studio from 2000-ish to the new Visual Studio w/.NET, and if you're familiar w/web development, please help me understand ASP.NET and Visual WebGui. If I use Visual WebGui is it (client, not development) Windows specific whereas ASP.NET isn't? Thanks, thanks, thanks!

Microsoft Programming Languages? Visual Basic, Visual Studio .NET, etc. Please help!?
Visual Studios .NET is Microsoft's environment that ties all of their languages together. If you are interested in checking out the latest version, you can download the beta for Visual Studios .NET 2008 which comes with all the languages. Otherwise you have to either buy it, or download the express versions for each individual language.

ASP is kind of Microsoft's version of PHP. It works very well and ties in very nicely with VB.Net, I use the combo at work. If you have any questions feel free to message me.
Reply:Visual Studio hasn't changed, but the languages inside the studio package have. The .NET languages all require a set of files called the .NET CLR (Common Language Runtime) Libraries - like the DLLs that each of the languages (C++, J++, VB) used to install on your system. The two main differences are that the .NET languages can be used to write web (internet or intranet) based applications, and that you can start writing a program in one language, such as C# (the successor to Visual C++), and continue it in J# (the successor to Microsoft's J++ - their 'java' version). Planet Source Code (http://www.pscode.com ) has great source code samples.

Microsoft virtual pc 2004 setup help!!!!?

sorry to bother you all but i just downloaded Microsoft virtual pc 2004 (not 2007 my machine does not support it) and it saved in a compressed folder not anywhere else but i clicked setup in the compressed folder and my pc went blue saying Microsoft has found a problem and needs to close. my pc then restarts fine. i have a windows xp home edition laptop with amd on it not intel core. i then thought that i seen somewhere to click on hotfix. please help i will add any details when i find any!

Microsoft virtual pc 2004 setup help!!!!?
You really need to leave more details. But from what you are saying, I can suggest the following:

- when the 'PC went blue', I can only assume that you mean that you got a BSOD (Blue Screen of Death).

- from the BSOD, you will usually find a short message, and a hexadecimal number, like 0x8000e002, or something.

- take as much detail as you can from that screen (unfortunately it does mean copying it all down onto paper), and either search Google, or Microsoft for help, or start another question on here!

Reply:I installed VPC 2004 on Vista Premium and opened setup and setup poped up Report It

Reply:I deleted it though because I did not have a disc for XP. But my pc did not crash. Report It

Reply:It could be for the same reason 2007 isnt supported. on the download page for 2007 it says it isnt compatible with XP home. my friend tried running it on xp home and it starts up and crashes every time. so i think it could just be because its not compatible.

Some pop-ups are benign; others more malevolent, spawning new pop-ups as quickly as you can close them – causing your Internet connection to slow dramatically as your browser tries to load all the unwanted incoming data.Note: When adding an open popup to your Black list, the popup window closes immediately and is prevented from appearing in the future. Microsoft word????????????

i have just bought this computer the operating system is microsoft xp professional, but i cannot find microsoft word anywere does anyone know were i can find it or is it possible that the computher doesnt have this programme? but i asume that it will come with it as standard!

Microsoft word????????????
doesnt come as standard. try open office it is free http://www.openoffice.org/
Reply:It comes pre loaded with Microsoft Vista.
Reply:Afraid it comes as extra, threes plenty of free Word processing programs about. Hope you've got some firewall and virus guard software, as XP basic guard not up to much!!!
Reply:If you want it as standard you have to ask and you will have to pay extra.

You will have to buy it seperatly and remember NEVER assume that your computer comes with office or any equivelent for any other operating system.

So NO it does not come with it.

If you don't want to pay extra for Microsoft Office try :

http://www.openofice.org
Reply:I have experienced the same thing. But i contacted microsoft and it doesnt come with any XP operating systems. To buy it go to this address: Amazon.co.uk or windowsmarketplace.co.uk
Reply:You have to buy it, and as usual it is not cheap. There is a good alternative though. Download Open Office from the Internet http://www.openoffice.org/ . It uses it's own file format but can also save and read Word documents. Give it a try if you don't like it you can always remove it and it's cost you nothing. Hope this helps.

Try this for a free-version.

http://www.openoffice.org/
Reply:Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, sir, but Word does not come as standard. It's a separate programme that has to be purchased separately.

You could give OpenOffice a try. It's a freeware office product that is able to open and save text files as Word compatible.

There are also other word processors that are Word compatible. Do a search in Google or Yahoo to find them.
Reply:No, it isn't always included. You can most likely download it though, for a small fee.

If not it is easily bought in most PC shops, usually as part of Works suite.
Reply:when i got my new pc with xp i got microsoft works with it. word processer, spreadsheets etc

Microsoft XP Office 2003 help?

I installed Panda antivirus on my Windows XP computer. After that I was getting those popups that say "send error report to microsoft". I did and a couple of days later I got a response from Microsoft saying I needed to download the most recent driver for my video card. I did that and now when I try to open any office programs, an installer box opens, like Office is not installed yet, then it says error installing, please insert disk. Can someone please explain to why this is happening and how I can fix it? I don't know where I put my original disc, and I need my word docs, they are for my business. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Microsoft XP Office 2003 help?
Do you have a pirated copy? Or did you actually buy XP. Sometimes you can't update pirated copies because microsoft will check the key code.
Reply:First, cold boot your pc (complete shutdown where pc is off and then wait 30 sec and turn it back on).

If you still have the same problems, then I believe that you originally had two problems.... a corrupted Office program file and a corrupted video graphics driver.

Now that the driver problem is fixed you are down to one problem, a corrupted Office program file.

I assume you are trying to run Word... will the other applications run? Excel, Power Point, etc.?

If so, then you have at least narrowed it down to one application. If you have other pc's running the same version of Office 2003, try copying winword.exe from that other pc to this one.

If that doesn't work, you are definitely in need of the original install CD. Unforunately, 32 bit applications will not copy well from one pc to another. They must be installed from original CD's or ISO copied CD's.

You can buy Office 2003 Pro for $189 or less. Best wishes...

Reply:microsoft excel,microsoft photo editor,microsoft front page,microsoft outlook express. etc.
Reply:Well there is a free trial on the Windows website of Office 07. I would try that first and decide if you really want it then see if there are any Office XP or Office 03 on Ebay. Thats your best spot to find any office product relesed before Office 07 as you can only get the latest relesed version of Office in stores.

Site for trial is http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...
Reply:hmmmm, i have WinOffice2kpro and WinOfficeXPPro, both are similar once you learn one office you can easily learn about the added features, Both versions serve me well, i don't really need any more than what i have. And defineatley can't justify spending more money on the same thing. Mostly i use Excel and Word. Excel is a flat spread sheet that is very good and easy to use. Word is a word processor that is very good also.

Oh, also have WinOffice97Pro, run away from that, does not play well with anything.

If you are using an older version of office, insure that you get the security downloads at the very least.
Reply:Well, all I know is it cost money.

Open Office is free; http://www.openoffice.org/ I use the Polish version as I learning Polish. Not sure it do all you want though.

I use WordPad for English.

Sorry, this all I really know. I did use years ago, but, just got tired of the expense.
Reply:It's essential for office chores and your files can be easily shared with others.

You need to contact Yahoo tech support.

There have been lots of problems with this one.

It is part of the Yahoo toolbar. Looks like mots people fix it by uninstalling the toolbar.

Microsoft is beginning its "aquisition" of Yahoo? Say what?

Does anyone even search with Microsoft's search anyways?

Microsoft is beginning its "aquisition" of Yahoo? Say what?
Microsoft Search has always been a disaster. In business you either create something yourself or you buy/steal it from elsewhere.

Note that Microsoft is only CONSIDERING buying yahoo. Sometimes these stories are developed pre-maturely, as I'm sure they have considered buying a wide variety of companies.

Help with Microsoft Office Imaging?

I have uploaded pictures from my digital camera into Microsoft Office Imaging. This software formats all pictures as .tif files with no option to "save as" .jpg. Because of this, I cannot post the photos online. I tried opening the photos in Paint, but I got a "sharing" error. I downloaded Irfanview, which allowed me to change the picture to a .jpg file.

However, Microsoft Office Imaging uploads all pictures at once as one file, instead of each picture separately. If anyone is familiar with either Microsoft Imaging or Irfanview, could you tell me how I can save each picture separately so I can post them online? (I would be adding them to facebook, myspace, webshots, etc...which all accept .jpg files).

Thanks!

Microsoft update messed my computer up..?

I updated Microsoft Windows Tues. the 3rd. After I restared my comp. it said "The system Dll user 32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the dll C:\windows\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address change reserved for windows system Dlls. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL. "

I did a system system restore and that didn't work. I downloaded something from Microsoft website that was supposed to fix it and still nothing. I have tried updating drivers, spyware/virus checker and defrag.

Certain programs won't run like Windows Media Player, etc. When I try to go to a program it says " Windows Installer, preparing to install" and then it won't open the program. How can this be fixed?

Microsoft update messed my computer up..?
Try this patch,

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448/e...

if that doesn't work, try this one.

Reply:replace the same dll from another computer using the same windows. So that means find someone elses computer copy the file and paste it in location of the dll. This will work 90% of the time.
Reply:What was the "something" you downloaded from Microsoft that was supposed to fix this? If you had to tell Microsoft what it was, could you do that?

Actually, hhctrl has to do with Active X controls. It means that something did not load correctly or completely.

SP1 has service pack 1 already installed/integrated so its more up to date version of Windows Server 2003 Standard.

It is “Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Standard” - so it will fit there.

No, that's a parody site. It's been around for years. The download links on that site just take you to the microsft.com download area for IE7.

Note: Some saved favorites may link to sites Microsoft deems inappropriate or dangerous. i.e. Google.com - Such saved entries are automatically removed and the ability to manually add them disabled. Microsoft knows best."

Quetsion about microsoft?

microsoft on my computer says the document is locked and i need a product key to update microsoft or whatever, so does my computer already have its own product key or do i need to buy a new one? or is it just that my microsoft was on a trial period and i need to purchase new software? if so, how much would that cost, can i download it, or do i need to buy it from a store or a place like amazon? please help! thankyou!

Quetsion about microsoft?
Okay, you need to turn off computer first, (of course) and turn on and immediately click f5, which will place it in safe mode. Your document is saying locked because you have to have an administrator code. I would suggest you assign yourself one. Then, when your computer turns on after your have assigned an administrator code, you can open your document.

I really hope this helps. I do this to protect my computer from anyone else using it because I don't always trust maintenance or others who may wander in my apartment using their key.

You can also go to Microsoft updates, and click on automatic updates to be sure you get the newest products for free.

Microsoft Access - Anyone have any database samples?

Hi, Im looking into purchasing Microsoft Access. I only have the sample cd for this program. Does anyone own this program? Is it easy to use? Would someone please be able to email me some samples of databases created with Microsoft Access, so i can have a look? Thanks for all your help. Kind regards, Val

Microsoft Access - Anyone have any database samples?
For starters you will need to have access installed to view an access database. Access works at a number of different levels. If you buy a copy of office for dummies you will get going with access in a few hours, but also access has a programming interface that can take years to learn.

Microsoft Office 2007?

Okay, When I started my Microsoft Office 2003 class at school, I thought I just had office 2003-turns out 3 weeks after class starts, I find out it's a trial-so I don't have the money to go and buy it, but I found an office 2007 trial-which I downloaded, but it's very confusing and doesn't go with my coursework. I am supposed to be doing my assignment with Microsoft Office Access-does anyone know how I can get access-I cant find it on my computer with the rest of my Office 2007 stuff.

Question for Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 users only?

I am running Virtual PC 2007 from within XP Professional. I have Windows 2000 Professional running in the Virtual. Is there any way to set up a USB printer to run in the 2000? I have tried the normal install but the 2000 cannot detect the printer. I have no experience of installing a printer other than via a USB connection. Any help/advice much appreciated. Microsoft US refuse to deal with my question and simply refer me on to Microsoft UK (because I am in London, UK) but Microsoft UK never seem to respond to support questions.

Question for Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 users only?
You need to have the virtual pc recognize the usb drive. If you can't do that, try installing on your windows xp machine and sharing the printer. Then connect it to the virutal pc through the share.

If Microsoft takes over Yahoo - will that make microsoft's stock higher or Yahoo's?

I currently have stock with Microsoft but was wondering if it was worthwhile to buy into Yahoo. If Microsft buys out yahoo will that elevate the price of Microsoft or Yahoo or both? Which more?

If Microsoft takes over Yahoo - will that make microsoft's stock higher or Yahoo's?
1) Yes. (MSFT)

2) No. (YHOO will be dead and buried. I mean the STOCK SYMBOL. Not the company)

Example:

MSFT is worth $30.00

YHOO is worth $30.00

In this case you will get one MSFT share for each YHOO share.

Microsoft/Yahoo! will save a gazillion dollars in salaries because they need right now two persons to answer their phones, two persons to open their doors and so on.

They will just fire one and keep one.

You don't need 2 CEOs.

You don't need 2 CFOs.

All the way down to the last employee.
Reply:In general, Microsoft is "bigger" company than Yahoo. Therefore, Microsoft might be more stable than yahoo. Think about this, there is no way for Microsoft to bankrupt since it is so huge. Yahoo is huge too, but in my opinion Mircrosoft's stock worth more.

Installing Microsoft Office on my mac--PLEASE HELP?
are u aware that microsoft works best on WINDOWS computers?
Reply:Take a good look at the contents of the CD. It should have an installation package (pkg) file. You will need to double-click this file which will run the installation. Moving the files to your application folder will not work for MS Office.

What are the chances of Microsoft acquiring Yahoo!? And how will it affect Microsoft's stock price?

So far, Microsoft seems to be the only company that is in the bidding for Yahoo! Google would love to buy Yahoo!, but the government will not allow it because of anti-trust laws. So, what are the chances that Yahoo! will let themselves be acquired by Microsoft?

And if Microsoft does acquire Yahoo!, how will it affect their (MSFT) stock price? History says that an acquiring firm's stock price will usually fall after an acquisition. However, there were also times when an acquiring firm's stock price would go up as a result of high expectations of an acquisition. Which direction do you think Microsoft's stock price will go if the acquisition of Yahoo! is successful?

What are the chances of Microsoft acquiring Yahoo!? And how will it affect Microsoft's stock price?
Yahoo has rejected Microsoft's offer, so I'd be watching the stocks this week, namely today, to see what's happening.
Reply:The odds Microsoft will acquire them are high, say, 3 or 4 to 1. The current maneuvering is just a gambit by Yahoo's management to try to raise Microsoft's offer.
Reply:all they have to do is sweeten the offer.

Trojan Looksky Virus & Microsoft?

I was looking on the Microsoft for a fix for the Trojan Looksky Fix and they have a Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for it. This is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwar...

I know there a program called SmitFraudFix but I don't know much about that program and I'd rather go with the Microsoft d/l. Does anyone know about it? Does it work? Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much.

Trojan Looksky Virus %26amp; Microsoft?
SmitFraudFix works.

Have a look here on how to clean your computer and protect it:

Reply:Thank You. Report It

Reply:I would use Microsoft first, then the other program. But then a lot of Microsoft's stuff doesn't work.
Reply:You may be best off to post a HijackThis log at a forum that deals with these.

Some give quite a lot of specific removal instructions, that are in some cases, ongoing.

Castlecops have a MalwareRemoval procedure posted which is a good first step. Indeed, they request users go through that prior to posting the log.

Reply:I have repaired Smitfraud infections without either of those tools.

Update your antivirus and spyware protection programs.

Turn off system restore (right-click My Computer, choose Properties, then System Restore tab) and restart in Safe mode (F8 while restarting).

Run full-system scans, spyware and virus.

Restart your computer. Turn system restore back on.

Create a new system restore point. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore and create a new restore point.

Probably a good idea to clean the registry too (I use Ccleaner).

Reply:SmitfraudFix is a specialised tool to remove the Smitfraud infection ONLY. It is excellent for what it is, but it cannot remove Looksky (AKA Locksky).

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is a safe., semi-specialised tool that can remove SOME infections on this list here:

Should 'Microsoft Office Startup' be a startup program?

I have an old machine and don't want anything unnecessary running the background to slow me down. Should 'Microsoft Office Startup' be a startup program? I don't use Microsoft Office often.

If after I disable Microsoft Office Startup, would I have any problem bringing it up on demand?

Should 'Microsoft Office Startup' be a startup program?
No problems at all. I always disable it.

Is Microsoft's bid for Yahoo! a wise one?

Microsoft has pounced on slumping Internet icon Yahoo with an unsolicited takeover offer of $44.6 billion in its boldest bid yet to challenge Google's dominance of the lucrative online search and advertising markets.

With its profits steadily sliding, Yahoo's stock slipped to a four-year low earlier this week and a new management team has been trying to steer a turnaround but sees more turbulence through 2008.

Wouldn't it have been smarter for Microsoft to expand into these markets rather than buying a faltering company for far more than it's worth?

Is Microsoft's bid for Yahoo! a wise one?
gee i hope the good people at Y!'s top are reading what their people (this) have to say about this proposed takeover....IT IS A BAD IDEA.....and this is why:

first off MS is OS/browser crazed. they will do anything in time to make "the new yahoo" more functional by using their browser and OS ONLY and then google wins anyway.

MS is not an altruistic company. there is so much new cool stuff that needs to be invented and little cool things that other smaller portals have achieved. yahoo is behaving like there is no new innovation. i mean it sounds like yahoo is giving up. to this end i would serve a plea to its stockholders by saying, "we should hang in there" little longer.

such is the problem of going public. stay private for the long haul but yahoo can't do that because it is already public.

rather i see yahoo combining its forces with small innovative portals and build a better for pay Mail Plus. i am a paying customer and i love all the features.

remembers the early daz of ureach.com. they had that facility to directly upload data and make it available to the public or limited access. i thought that was very cool. in fact ureach offers some really nice services now that would work well will yahoo.

then how about a browser based OS. there is so much to be accomplished there as well. perhaps a piece of yahoo can get it together with Canonical and embrace Ubuntu? so maybe Yahoo can be a GM of portals and take under its wing some innovations.

to yahoo people i say if you just want to sell out then just do it. but if you still interested in Yahoo then i say for everyone to go to the beach this weekend and have a picnic and take deep breath......see what happens monday.
Reply:Their running scared of Google.

The 'Monolopy %26amp; Mergers Committee' will have something to say about this one I'd expect.
Reply:I guess, to give an abbreviated answer, it is a good idea to work with something that already has solid foundations than to try to build something from scratch.
Reply:i think it would be unwise for yahoo to accept it. all yahoo needs is some restructuring and some new ideas to compete effectively with google. after all, yahoo has been around the longest and has a tremendous customer base that is hardcore when it comes to loyalty to yahoo. if microsoft gets their way, and redoes the yahoo site and services to "microsoft" services, i know personally i'll be moving to google myself. i am one of those VERY loyal yahoo users that will boycott the new corporation if it happens that way.

Why microsoft supports nudity in yahoo chatrooms instead they should devote more time in keeping a better inte

it looks microsoft runs in favour of camsluts worlwide.maybe their staff is too involved in chatrooms of yahoo doing c2c with programmers of yahoo like sarita and sonia.i havent seen any day that the internet was running in good shape.i think they are also part of freezing computers, recording all events.hacking computers etc etc.i am not scared in saying this because i have been thru this since a year.its a shame to microsoft and i was waiting for this opportunity to write about this.even i had to change my home page(yahoo)to aol because it cant be trusted anymore.can i say"microsoft sucks"

Why microsoft supports nudity in yahoo chatrooms instead they should devote more time in keeping a better inte
huh? whats your point?

Can Microsoft Office be downloaded for free?

I'm not looking for an answer but to give response to a now closed question.

This is a limited time offer, Microsoft is now offering the Office 2007 Beta to be downloaded free from its site. And for students, there Visual Basic Express and C# Express %26amp; C++ Express is available for free download till November. Get in on this before the offer ends. After this time period you'll have to pay for the downloads. You download before the that period the software is yours to keep for absolutely free, check it out:

Can Microsoft Office be downloaded for free?
Thank you very much to the reminding us of OpenOffice, I neglected to mention it. It includes OpenOffice Base %26amp; Impress, (alternatives to access and PowerPoint respectively) which you do not get in the Microsoft Office Package.

Thats was for those of you who insist on using Microsoft products.

I would like to also refer to sourceforge.net which would give "Dia", the opensource alternative to "Visio" and "Imendio Planner for Windows", the opensource alternative to Ms Project.

Please not that "sourceforge.net" offers source code downloads so be sure that you chosse the ".exe" to use the end product.

And in response to this "When you join thier subscriptions for MSDN, like 3 grand a year last I looked, you can download alot for 'free'!" It actually is free. I am a current VB student and I am taking advantage of this offer, 'cause you don't get much free from Microsoft. It has a saved me a bundle. I have both VB Express and Visual Web Developer Express and they're running perfectly. There is no $3000.00 charge. So do it before November and you're good to go.
Reply:Adding to your posting: Oracle Express, MS SQL Express, and, you know, even Open Office which is not Microsoft but is also a good option and uses and saves files in MS Office formats...
Reply:Yea its a limited time offer. I've used Microsoft Beta products and after a few months they just stop working and throw an error saying the trial period is ended. It is however pretty cool way to learn the software and test stuff on.
Reply:is this just an add?
Reply:Microsoft opened Beta years ago to the puiblic thank goodness. They used to send fbi to your house before that when the testing was done i have friends it happened with.

When you join thier subscriptions for MSDN, like 3 grand a year last I looked, you can download alot for 'free'!

The link above gives the download but also explains that the beta has an expiry date of Feb 1st and will have a limited function after that.

You can download Open Office which looks and feels very much like the Microsoft version, but is entirely free and available for commercial use as well.
