Microsoft xp?
XP driver hell is only part of the reason I switched entirely to http://pclinuxos.com

5500 FREE games and programs, drivers included, upto 50X faster computing, and none of the "114,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions" are a great persuasion factor.

Plus, the fact that it can run as a LiveCDrom, without ever touching the hard drive, is great for the visiting children, so they can't screw up your files.

Hey, Microsoft.com, hotmail.com, MSN.com, Redmond Campus, the Lab 400, all Microsoft Corporate offices, routers, firewalls, run on 45,000 Linux computers.

PCLinuxOS has to be the most complete, easiest free system, ever! Comes with the complete Office suite that reads and writes ALL Microsoft formatted products back to 1986.
Reply:downloaded XP?

check the folder where you downloaded it to and look for the setup file....if it truly is a copy of XP it'll open up to the options menu where you can select to install XP, Learn More about the setup process, Install optional components, perform additional tasks, or browse this cd.

you'll need to have a product key, and since its an upgrade, leave the current file system intact, otherwise you'll lose all your files.
Reply:back it up

Reply:If it was an Upgrade, and legit, you can get a Bootdisk at bootdisk.com

Then you can read abunch about that at langa.com

After you have the XP on the Hard Drive, or Multiple Partitions, then you can Boot into it at startup, you will be presented with a screen to register your copy. Read the EULA, if you agree, continue on.

Bear in mind, that everything you do or erase from ME is lost forever. So make a backup of anything you think is important.

You are permitted to make ONE backup of XP. Keep it safe and update it often.
Reply:if your at a dos prompt type

dir rtlnic51.sys /w/a/s

and it'll find the file and display where it is.

If your in windows do a search for the file and that'll show you as well.

Good luck.
Reply:Best thing to do id copy it to a bootable cdrom and then bootup and run the setup.
Reply:the best thing to do is a clean boot f your disk sumtimes you run into problems when you install a later verion of windows over a earlier one
