Microsoft Flight Simulator X "Invalid CD Key"?

Hello, I recently purchased the Deluxe edition of FSX. Installation went fine.

But when I'm about to Activate the game, It is saying that my Product Key is Invalid. I checked 10 times and I know that I put the RIGHT one and it's still saying that it is invalid. I cant even go to the Activation Page.

I just bought this like 3 hours ago and it's saying that its invalid.

I'm trying to find the email address or even phone number for Microsoft's gaming department but it seems that they are all hidden. And they want me to pay again for their support.

If anyone can help me here, or If anyone knows a solution or the Contact Information of Microsoft's gaming department, So i can email them and let them replace the Product.

I'm pretty much disappointed right now.

Thanks in advance.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X "Invalid CD Key"?
Would the number 1-800-RU-LEGIT (1-800-785-3448) still work? That was the anti-piracy number for Microsoft.

PS Is your copy of Windows valid and do you have Windows Genuine Advantage (WGA) installed...is your computer fully updated?

That's going to matter, I would bet.

PS It's a 25 digit code in sets of 5, not the string before if there is one.
Reply:You should bring it to the person who sold it to u and ask abt it

Microsoft word 2003 locked?

I have this problem....which is, i'm trying to use microsoft word, but when i try typing, the words don't show on the screen. When I look at the left bottom corner of the screen it says "This modification is not allowed because the document is locked" I look on the top of the screen, and microsoft won't let me change the font, language and etc. Why is the document locked, and how can i unlock it?

Microsoft word 2003 locked?
It may be a trial version that was good for 30 or 60 days. At the end of that time it will let you read your files, but not edit them. You have to purchase Microsoft Office to continue editing them.

Kind of like being hooked like a fish, isn't it?

Good luck.
Reply:If this is an existing document, then the document it self maybe protected from the orignal source. You will not be able to unlock it without having access to orignal source.

If it is a new document, try the HELP button and look up or look for information on locked documents.

Because of it being 2003, support is probably no longer available. This program may not be accepted if you have a newer version on your system.

Not sure if this helps or not.

Where do I get the whole Microsoft package thing?

Alright. Hey guys. I have this health front cover on Healthy Eating due on Tuesday, and I really need that Microsoft package thing with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and all of that stuff. I just need the Microsoft Word mostly but its best to have it all. Could you maybe hand me a link to where I can get this? NO, I do not want to pay anything.

Where do I get the whole Microsoft package thing?
That is called Microsoft Office. Yes you DO have to pay for it. There are loads of different versions, but "Small Business" has Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook:

If you don't want to pay anything, then get Open Office:

Microsoft 2007?

hey, i'm 16 years old and i'm enrolled in a dual class type thing of college and high school.

for a college class i have, [introduction to computers,] i have to have microsoft office 2007, with every version you buy you can put on up to 4 different computers. my friend let me install it on my laptop and use her product key. everything worked fine, as planned, but recently my laptop crashed and i had to reinstall windows xp therefore i lost everything i had on my computer. i would reinstall from her CD again but she's already had the other 3 uses contained. Is there anyway i can contact microsoft and explain what happened so they can give me a one time use product key? or do i just have to go buy it ?

by the way, i am fully aware of the trial versions but i need the full version for my class.

please help!

thanks.

Microsoft 2007?
It is when 5th computer with the key shows up at Microsoft registration center (with that cd/key) that Microsoft will reject the registration and activation.

No need to worry...install from friend cd and use the key. Your computer is registered by Microsoft as having office 2007 so you can use again. If activation fails, call microsoft and have your friend ready with purchase details to get new product key.
Reply:they probably would issue you (or rather your friend) with another activation code but your friend would probably need her product key and receipt handy when she phones them.

obviously microsoft don't just hand out product keys to anyone that phones them but as long as they're satisfied you did actually buy the copy in question they'll help you out.

Microsoft office 2003 help?

i used microsoft word and excel a lot for school since i do a computer based schooling that's ran by the city district in missouri...and i installed that back in the summer with my uncles cd and everytime i try to pull up anything that deals with microsoft office it says i need to reinstall it because it is no longer functioning...and then it tries to repair itself but it never works so whenever that pop ups i just hit cancel and wait a few minutes for it to come up...but my uncle now lives a state away so i can't go and get it from him again, so is there anything i can download for that? and just try to find the registration code?

Microsoft office 2003 help?
Buy it cheapo. It may never work right because you can not update it. It is a stolen copy as far as Microsoft is concerned. You want free stuff in this world then you have to settle for second rate.
Reply:I am sorry that this is happening to you and also that this dude that already answered was rude to you, it isn't about being cheap I thought that I had bought a computer that had it on it and then come to find out it is only a short time sample and by the time I realize how cheap and not good the computer I spent good money for is no one will do any thing about it, so that is like this nortons and stuff you get the disc you pay almost a 100 dollars for it and then it is no good to you and messes your computer up and no one is going to stand responsible not really they will find a way out of it the computer seem to be a lot of money and time wasting and if you get used to it occupying your time it is hard sometimes to get away from it, I am sorry that you are having this problem, it does look as if you will have to buy it! sorry

Microsoft Works vs Microsoft word?

In works when i convert my book pages into pdf but the page shows a page and half of the next page of the same page it's not showing the pages by themselves page after page.

On Microsoft word, they tell me it's better,

Microsoft Works vs Microsoft word?
Word is a lot better, but you have to purchase it, and Works comes free with a lot of PCs. Last year I spent a lot of time writing a research paper in Works, then when I emailed it to my professor, she couldn't open the attachment, so I had to print it out and take it to her. Also, if you get an office-type job, they want you to know Word, not Works.

Microsoft internet explorer ...problem?

this is weird i use to use microsoft internet explorer but my

but when i look for it so i can put it on my desktop i dont see it..the only time tht i get to use it is whn i click on my msn mail in the msn messenger

Microsoft internet explorer ...problem?
You probably did not uninstall Internet Explorer, but rather deleted the program files.

You can get it back by going to Control Panel, Add Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components [in the left hand side panel]. You will need your Windows XP disk. If you don't have it, then at this same place, remove Internet Explorer and then go to the Windows site and download and install it.

By the way, if you have Firefox, you don't need Internet Explorer. Firefox does everything Internet Explorer does and more.
Reply:It is possible just the shortcut was deleted.

I would start by going to: START -%26gt; CONTROL PANEL -%26gt; ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.

Then look down that list to determine if IE is still on your computer. If you see it is there, I would then go to MY computer, then to the C drive, then to programs and look around for IE. You might need to make a new shortcut on the desktop. Do this by right clicking on the IE icon once you find it, then click send to and click on "shortcut" that should put IE on the desktop.
Reply:Go to

START | SETTINGS | CONTROL PANEL | ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS | ADD/REMOVE WINDOWS COMPONENTS

Remove Internet Explorer.

Now, go to the Microsoft Internet Explorer site and download IE7 and install it.
Reply:if you are using windows xp, go back to the date prior to your dad changing it and it will correct it autpmatically
Reply:In windows you cannot delete a browser. Browser is integrated with windows. You deleted something else.

If you have a problem finding it there are many ways to find it. Icons are every where not just the desk top. First restore your quick launch on your task bar. There will be an icon right click on it and make a copy on desk top. Click start and you can launch it from programs and right click on it and make a copy on desk top. If not you have to search in windows directory.

Its easier to upgrade to a higher version.

Microsoft Office how to change name of Product Licencing ?

Hi. Say when we open Microsoft word, and go to help, and about microsoft office word, it opens up a window which shows the licence agreement, alongwith the name of the person who installed office and put their, also the cd-key / licence # and the company name. Now the problem is that the same name comes to the properties of the documents created. Does anybody knows how to change that name, so that the documents I write can show myself as the author of the document. Thanks.

Here's a link to the directions from Microsoft on how to change that info. I would write down the registration key first, you will later be prompted for it.

Microsoft Office 2007 Installation?

My laptop came preloaded with Microsoft Office student/home 2007. I just bought the Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007. The Ultimate product key isn't working with the student/home edition. Do I need to uninstall student/home edition and install ultimate in order for the product key to work?

Microsoft Office 2007 Installation?
Yes (well, technically you can probably install over the top of the student version)

The ultimate version you purchased is a complete different version then your student/home version - also has alot more features. Thats why the key wont work - Ultimate %26amp; Student have 2 different types of key's since they are 2 different versions.

When you put the CD for Ultimate in your machine, and start installing, it will recognize the Student version and ask if you want to install over or delete the student version and make a clean install of Ultimate. Personal preferance, which ever you prefer. Be sure to SAVE all your office doc's first (better safe then sorry)
Reply:Yes probably...or just install the ultimate version...itll update them itself

What is Microsoft's marketing and corporate strategy going to be concerning Zune? What's the strategy for Zune?

I am writing a paper on iPod VS the Zune.

I am touching a 4P analysis on both of the players, then strategy and marketing analysis and possible future steps and outcomes for both of them.

I am curious what you think about Microsoft's plan is to compete with iPod. How could they do that? What tools will they use? What would you use/do? How badly can this harm iPod?

After research I really believe in the iPod, however we should not forget Microsoft's advantage of being LARGE, and also a past example: XBox. XBox could and is competing with Playstation, and at some point it's even winning against Sony.

Can this happen to this war as well? Can the Microsoft beat Apple in this, or even at least steal a bigger chunk of market share?

So what's the strategy in Bill Gates' head?

What is Microsoft's marketing and corporate strategy going to be concerning Zune? What's the strategy for Zune?
I think you answered your own question...they will likely follow the same path they took with XBox.

Check out the website:

http://www.zune.net/en-US/

I don't think they will find the same success with Zune as they did with XBox personally...Apple does do something right and this seems to be one of them.

Microsoft, like all large companies, will likely work the same routine...undercut the competitor's prices; arrange more third-party vendors; sign exclusive distribution rights; and take a share. Then they hold on until the competitor dies or they realize it won't work. I'm thinking airlines for some reason...a new regional start up always faces prices cuts by the big dogs until they can't even turn a profit...time wastes away what capital they have.

But Apple isn't a regional startup...and Jobs does seem to do marketing right, so expect this to not be a successful venture for Microsoft.

The only other thought to share is how Microsoft is pushing the single-device concept. Sort of like how cell phones can do everything from pictures, navigation, surf the web, etc...MS is trying this with their devices and if they can integrate these devices well, then they could overtake Apple's market share. But that is a big challenge.

Microsoft Live One wants me to back up,what do I use and help ?
buy some blank DVD-RW .cd pack and back up your files to each dvd - rw there 4.7gb your need to download burning software like Nero
Reply:What?
Reply:Back-up to DVD(s) or CD(s). Depending on how many files you have it may take more than 1 disc, don't worry "One" will prompt you to insert another ( or at least it did when I did some BETA testing on it a while back).

Now take your newly backed-up files and put the in a safe location, preferably in a different location then your computer. If your computer is destroyed by fire or stolen, you don't want your back-ups burnt-up or stolen, too.

Good luck.
Reply:When My Mcafee wants me to back up files I use a CD. Depending on the size of the backup, like a full system backup (over 700mb) then a DVD is applicable. For the possible hacker problem, increase your firewall settings to "Stealth". This should block any intruders unless you already have spyware, adaware or a virus. On the CNET.com website you can download a spyware sweeper. Good luck!
Reply:Without knowing the context of why/what you were told to backup, I can only give you a general answer.

Backup(s) can be a clone of your harddrive or one picture or email. Microsoft backs up the registry (system restore) each time you boot up or add a program.

Replacing the hard drive is not a matter of if but when. The harddrive can completely fail without warning at any time. Generally, you should have a copy somewhere other than your computer of files that are stored no where else. Such as pictures, emails, program keys or serial numbers for programs you have purchased online and do not have a CD, a copy of your operating system, bookmarks, passwords, etc.

The mediums that can be used for this run the full gamut. Memory sticks, floppies, CDs, DVDs, external HDD, online storage, (even online email)etc. There are numerous programs designed to help you backup manually and automatically. You may have one or more on your computer already. Put there by Windows or your computer manufacturer. I know the above info is pretty general but you can always ask another question or search on the web for detail info for specifics in doing the above.

try windoiws restore. YOu just have to know when you installed it. and then go back before that date and restore
Reply:You can un-install and re-install the old version, if you have avaliable. I do not believe there is a rollback feature though, you can check in Add / Remove programs.

As for Word 2007, I'd say hold onto it, you'll soon realize the advantages, but at first.. I hated it too..

Microsoft Automatic Updates?

I have had a problem on my computer for about 6 months now. The same 5 updates from Microsoft download, nearly every day, but will not install - other updates install - no problem.

The error code is 0x80070643 and there appears to be a remedy @

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPos...

I must be doing something wrong - as I cannot get this solution to work for me.

Does anyone know another way to fix this problem - that they might be able to explain to me in simple terms?

My computer has slowed down so much, because of this ongoing problem, that I have now disabled Automatic Updates, (but check every few days to see if there is a new update - and download it).

Microsoft Automatic Updates?
Hello,

(ANS) I know this comment doesn't solve your problem but 90% of Microsoft Windows updates are utterly useless and completely unnecessary, and yes! are very likely to slow your system down.

NOTE: The only important updates are system (critical) and security updates.

**Further your system is MUCH more secure with automatic updates turned off in my opinion. This closes yet another windows vulnerability.

**You can also un-install many of the updates, if you log into your machine as the administrator (via the admin account) you should be able to look within the windows folder and see the updates. Many updates have an un-installer file that can be run to remove the specific update. (Look inside the update folder for a file called uninstall or unwise, etc).

Microsoft or Apple Mac for laptop?

Lets say Im getting a laptop for school. Should I switch from Microsoft to Mac? Ive had used Mac in the past (like 10 years ago) but ive used Microsoft longer.

Microsoft or Apple Mac for laptop?
if you're thinking of buying a laptop you should check out this site first. they give you a sony vaio laptop for FREE! all you need to do is complete a few quick tasks for them.
Reply:Depends on the software you want to run. I'm not sure of your needs, so it's hard to say. In general, Macs can do everything that a PC can do. Watch movies, play music, surf the net, word processing. However, there's quite a bit of software that is specific to each platform. I would say that you need to analyze your software. You won't be able to load any of your existing programs onto a mac. You'll have to buy it again.

Don't buy all of the hype about Macs being better at graphics and stuff. If you have adequate hardware to process and display graphics, then the only difference is software. It's not as if things look better on a Mac. It simply comes down to the industry standard. Many graphic designers use Macs, so if you want your files to be compatible with another graphic designer, you use a Mac. The last company I worked for, the graphic designer used a PC. Whenever he received files from other designers, it was encoded for Macs. He had to jump through hoops to coonvert the data and it was a huge pain for him. Just keep in mind, you won't be able to just create a file and load it onto any PC as you do now. You'll be carrying that Mac with you everywhere, because you never know when it won't be compatible.

Macs don't have many viruses targeted at them because there aren't many Macs out there. Think about it from a virus programmer's point of view. Would you rather piss off 10,000 people, or 10,000,000 people? Not many businesses use Macs, so you wouldn't be able to target many businesses either. Basically, your work as a virus programmer would be felt by very few people, so why bother? Saying a Mac is better than PC because of fewer viruses is like saying Linux is better than Mac for the same reason. Even FEWER people use Linux than they use Mac. Does that make Linux better?? It is for this same reason that you hear of fewer problems related to Macs. There's simply far FAR fewer people using Macs. Therefore, you hear of far fewer problems. If there are 10,000,000 Fords on the road and you hear of 10,000 problems with them, that's only 0.01% of the total. If there's only 10,000 Pontiacs out there, then 0.01% is only 10 cars. So obviously, you wouldn't hear about many Pontiac problems. Nobody knows how many PCs are out there, and how many Macs are out there. But people hear of many PC problems, but not many Mac problems. It's a great selling point, but it's based upon nothing. It's just preying upon the average consumer's lack of knowledge.

As a side note, although I would never buy a Mac, I've always admired them. Their processors have always been outstanding, and the computers are designed to be simple.
Reply:Hello orangeorange3,

Yes. Get a MacBook or a MacBook Pro. You won't regret it. OK here's my list of things I like about the Macintosh over Windows. I'm sorry that it is so long, but that's how it goes.

* No computer viruses.

You hear from the Windows people that it's because there are fewer Macs out there, but I think it's because of the Mac OS and it's Unix kernel. That doesn't explain why Vista got viruses before it was officially released. The Macintosh comes out of the box as a closed system. If you want it to be networked and remotely operated, you can make that happen, but you have to change it's settings first. Windows machines come out of the box as a wide open vulnerable system. That's so the IT guy can set up the hardware, attach it to the company's network, and install the software remotely from the comfort of his own desk. ActiveX and InternetExplorer leaves the Windows OS wide open to hacks and viruses. The Macintosh OS simply isn't set up that way.

If you want to install any kind of software onto your Mac, you first need to type in your administrative password. There is no auto-install for a virus to attach itself to your Mac without your Okay. That is the simple answer why there hasn't been any viruses for the Macintosh in the past 6 years. Another is that first year programmers learn how to create simple Windows script viruses their first year of class. Mac programmers simply love their computers and have no desire to create such an abomination. We love our Mac programmers and happily pay what ever they ask for their good, hard work.

* Games.

I enjoy the games that I play on my Mac, but It's true that there simply aren't as many games out there for the Mac as Windows. Hopefully, with the Mac now using an Intel processor, we will start to see more games being developed for the Mac. But, honestly, don't most people get their gaming fix by playing with video game consoles (such as NES, PS, Wii, or XBox), rather than playing games on their computers?

* Software.

There's a lot more software for the Macintosh now, than before Mac OS X arrived. Much of the Mac's new software is simply Unix ports. There is also a large open source and public domain/shareware development community that has been supporting the Mac OS.

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/

You can run Unix X-windows on your Macintosh now too. Apple has been designated as the largest distributor of Unix in the world. If you have one of the new Intel-based Macs you can now run Windows programs natively using a program called Boot Camp and/or Parallel. There is also a Java Virtual Machine for the Mac too.

There's still a ton of programs made specifically for the Mac. Most of these are programmed in machine language, so they're lightening fast. Apple watches over their developers closely, to make sure everything runs like it's supposed to; that it runs the Macintosh way. There's also a lot of Windows ports too. I use Microsoft Office on my Mac at work all the time. Although the Macintosh versions of Windows software are way behind in features than their Windows brethren, the Macintosh programs seem to run better, faster and are not as susceptible to problems as the Windows ports. Go figure!

Where the Macintosh really shines is in the creative software area. I'm a printer, so I know that the Macintosh pioneered desktop publishing. I think that most structured drawing, paint/graphics, and music programs got their start here too. Video and film editing and production is now very big on the Mac. Many people complain about how expensive some of these programs are, but frankly, professional programs are always more expensive than the cheaper consumer-level programs that are out there. Stuff like iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, etc. come free with your Macintosh, while other programs are quite affordable.

http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx

* Less problems

The Macintosh simply works. There really isn't very many problems using a Mac compared to a Windows PC. Check out the computer questions here on Yahoo! Answers. There are a lot of Windows, "Why can't I get this to work?" questions here. Even though there are a lot of Mac users here, there doesn't seem to be very many Mac questions. The Mac simply works. Naturally, there are a few problems with any kind of computer hardware, but these are few and far between on a Mac.

* Hardware Power -vrs- Expense

Right, the Macintosh is a little more proprietary and you really need to buy hardware that tells you that it's Macintosh compatible. You can't just buy some cheap hardware, piece it together, and make a Mac, like you can with some PCs. But, then, you don't have Plug-and-Pray either. Again, the Mac simply works.

We also hear from Windows users that Windows PCs are cheaper than Macs. True, you can buy hardware with the barest of graphics cards, hard drives, and other components, or you can buy the best and end up spending the same amount as a Mac. It's your choice, but that's why you see Macs holding up and being used a lot longer than these Window PCs.

Oh, and since we're talking about hardware, yes, you can get yourself a USB multiple-buttoned mouse, plug it into your Mac, and use it just fine, thank you. Don't worry about it.

* Mac OS X

It's a very simple, basic, easy-to-use OS. It's highly graphic, so your kids or your grandmother could learn to use it, and it's also got a terminal, so the geekiest guy can enjoy using it to it's fullest extent. Windows users will recognize many of the same features that they use on their OS, but there are a few things that are strictly Macintosh.

http://www.apple.com/support/switch101/

http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/

http://switchtoamac.com/guides/

I have loved it because it's always responsive. You throw in a CD and the icon for it pops up on the desktop along with a dialog box asking if you want a specific program to use with it. There's no need to search for drives. If it's a music CD, iTunes launches to play it. If you plug in your digital camera iPhoto launches to import the pictures. If you're looking for a file buried deep inside your Mac's file structure, you can use Spotlight and it might find the file before you're done typing the first three letters of the name.

Again, I'm sorry that this is so long, but I get tired of the misinformation that the Windows guys are spreading about the Macintosh, and I wanted to be sure to respond to all of their rants with the facts. Go into your local Macintosh dealer and play with the Macintosh yourself, and see what you think. Best of luck with your final decision. Take care.

Reply:If you're going to do a lot of word processing, buy a PC. Office 2007. Words can not express how fantastic it is.
Reply:Stick with what you are familiar with, unless you are going to school for something graphical. Macs handle high end video and graphics editing better. For everthing else, there is an argument for either. If you are used to PCs, then you should stick with PCs.
Reply:Hello. My ID is Ms. Dell, and I am happy to answer your question.

Apple has launched their new Macbook Pro, featuring a CPU best of 2.4Ghz, which is GREAT and its GPU has finally upgraded to nVida 8600M GT.

Is Mac a Mac now? Good question, and the answer is no. Mac is now a PC, for mac has reached to their limit and switched over to PC hardware to continue their journey.

We have yet to see PC switch over to Mac, which will never happen because there is no reason to.

But since Mac is now this powerful and certainly will play most of the top advanced games available, then it wouldn't be a bad idea to go Mac, especially having the freedom to install windows alternatively.

Since your requirement is based on school work, then the Mac will be just fine. Simply spend an addtional $150 to get windows on your Mac, and you are free from obligation. I'll be making a new video on Youtube soon with the lastest Macbook Pro. I want to personally feel the new upgrade before I start bashing it over this place as usual.

You have a great day now.

Ms. Dell.
Reply:As much as i know Micfosoft is user friendly , so its better you go for Microsoft
Reply:So, first of all, it comes down to money. Macs are based on the Intel Core product line (first generation 65nm Intel processors). If you go with a decent Intel based laptop from say HP for $600 or more, you'll probably get a Core 2 (new architecture improvement over Core).

If you like to play games, always stick with Windows. If you have any special Windows based apps, stick with Windows. If you value any Microsoft software (say Visual Studio, or SQL, or Office), stick with Windows. If you really don't know much about computers, a Mac might be for you.

MS One Note is basically designed for college students. It's pretty awesome and runs best on Windows.

Microsoft Powerpoint won't open?

I have had Microsoft installed for about a year and Word works but my teacher sent some powerpoints for our lesson adn I've been able to open them just fine, but now I can't even open Microsoft PP. HELP!!!!!

Microsoft Powerpoint won't open?
If you put the Office CD in your drive, the Install screen gives you an option to do a repair of Office installation. I would do that first. It fixes a lot of problems with Office.
Reply:There is usually a downloadable Power Point Reader on your school's website. I had the same problem, but then I downloaded the one the school had, and it opened just fine. Maybe they changed something on their end and that's why yours won't work anymore.

Question about Microsoft Office 2007 Professional version?

I currently have Microsoft Office 2007 Home and Student edition but I need Publisher 2007 for a class I am taking. I received a trial of Microsoft Office 2007 Professional version from another course I am taking. Can I choose which programs to install from Microsoft Office 2007 Professional version?

Question about Microsoft Office 2007 Professional version?
Yes, but I think you're asking for a bunch of trouble when the Office 2007 Professional trial version expires. You may not be able to uninstall the Professional trial without messing up your original Home and Student installation. Hopefully you have your Office 2007 Home and Student DVD and 25-digit product key in the event you need to completely reinstall the software. That said...

When you run the setup program for Office 2007 Professional trial, you will have a choice of an Upgrade installation or a Custom installation. Choose Custom, and in the Installation Options tab, you can choose to only install Publisher (or whatever applications you want to install from the trial).

Microsoft office 2007?

If I have things written in Microsoft Office 2007, how do I open it in Microsoft Office 2003. Is there a way out for me?

Microsoft office 2007?
Open the document back in office 2007 then click the windows logo thing at the top left corner and go to save as %26gt; office 97-2003 document
Reply:Open the document, go to File%26gt;%26gt;Save As and change "Save As Type " to Word97-2003.
Reply:Contact customer support at Microsoft, on line.
Reply:When you save on office 2007 you have to go:

Save as...

and on the right there should be "Word 97-2003 document" click on that and then save your file, it will make t so that the older office programs can read it.

If you click on "Save as"

under where you type file name there is "save as type" click the pull-down menu and choose "Word 97-2003 document" which should be about the third one down.

Microsoft powerpoint?

I'm going crazy here! Is there any possible way to download a free trial version of the actual Microsoft Powerpoint? The only thing that I found available on their website was a free trial of the newest Microsoft Office (which includes Powerpoint), but you need to have Vista to run it.

Any answers are appreciated, thanks!

Microsoft powerpoint?

Use Impress, it's free ALL the time not just a trial.
Reply:The newes version is Microsoft Office 2007 which you can install on Windows XP with no problem, I have it on XP!!

I wanted to take a look at the site and put the link here but seems you have found it yourself
Reply:You can't really download a free trial of Powerpoint, but you do have a couple of options nonetheless. If all you want to do is view a powerpoint file, you can download the free powerpoint viewer here:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/detai...

If you want to be able to produce powerpoint presentations for free, you can use the free office suite known as OpenOffice. It has a program called Impress which has identical functionality and document types to Microsoft Office. That can be downloaded here:

Reply:As has been said: Use OpenOffice.

Get it here:

Reply:I'm guessing you need Powerpoint to view a presentation that someone has sent to you. If that's the case, go to openoffice.org and download Open Office. It is a free office suite that will open and create MS Office docs, spreadsheets, and powerpoint presentations.
Reply:You can read and write most powerpoint documents with OpenOffice.org. It is free and has most of the Microsoft Office capabilities.

Microsoft will not give updates for win2000. Why?

I tried to download the latest Microsoft security updates, but it wouldn't work. Maybe Microsoft doesn't support win2000 anymore?

Microsoft will not give updates for win2000. Why?
maybe because we are in windows 2003... move up to windows 2003 and be updated. Also, MS don't give updates if you use unlicensed software. You can always call Microsoft in your area to verify why. Ot why not ask Microsoft Help?
Reply:Go here to get all available updates to Windows 2000 including the latest patches.

BTW: Windows 2000 is still being updated and supported.
Reply:Please check the link provided for full info on Microsoft's Life Cycle Support for its products.

You may need to upgrade to WinXP to continue getting updates.
Reply:Yes, microsoft support (those updates) is included in the price of windows. When a new version is released the clock starts ticking on End Of Life for that product. Once these products expire and there are no security updates, it is simply not safe to run these machines on the internet, tho a third party vendor may take on that task for a price, there are millions of ppl in your situation.

And, don't even think of upgrading... a machine that came with windows-2000 is so slow by today's standards that performance will be severely hindered.

What you can do, is get a POSIX compliant operating system like LINUX or freeBSD. These OS's are very lean and mean, and can give new life to old computers. There are several very good web and email programs that can be run.

What dies in old computers is the fans. If you hear squeaking noises, be sure to change out old fans. Also re-seat the boards while you have it open.
Reply:They are developing new software and will no longer create updates for older versions.. they are basically saying .. upgrade or be screwed..
Reply:we are in 2006, dont u think its just the right time? and any how, microsoft just dont remember how to upgrade it, they have only second grade programmers that did manage to get a job in Apple
Reply:Yeah, they stopped support for Win98 and WinMe, so probably for 2000 as well.
Reply:http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/def...
Reply:If you have a properly licensed copy of Windows 2000, then you should be able to download security updates. Microsoft has put Windows 2000 into its "extended" support phase, which generally means that you can get security fixes, but not much else. According to their web site, this should last until at least June 2010.

Microsoft XP (I feel Cheated!!!)?

I paid about £90 to buy XP Pro a couple of years ago and my mate has a "pirate" copy. he went onto Ebay and paid £2.50 to make his copy receive updates (therefore to make it "genuine") that was just under a year ago and he still gets them. I went to his earlier and he even showed me by going onto windows website, he was able to validate his copy and it passed.

How can this be so??? I feel I spent £90 for nothing now!!!

I always thought Microsoft would eventually block him, but nearly a year later he's fine.

He had to go onto some programme on his comp where he put a new "activation" key in, which was supplied by the seller on Ebay and it worked!!!!

How can Microsoft allow this???

Microsoft XP (I feel Cheated!!!)?
It's all down to the product key that you enter when you install XP if he's got a good one even though it pirated Microsoft wont know and he'll be able to get the updates

Oh you wasn't cheated you did the right thing buying the real thing you've got the piece of mind knowing you're legal and your friend isn't
Reply:Copy yours and sell them. Make your money back. lol
Reply:Microsoft doesn't care if people pirate their software, as that means more people not using their competitors software. They became the dominant force they are not because their software is good, but because it is easily pirated.
Reply:You let a CHEATER get you down?

It's not worth it!
Reply:wait a while, ms slips little things through with hotfixs. sooner of later the problem will come up.
Reply:He paid £2.50? A fool and his money...

Anyway, what makes you think Microsoft has any control of it? If they did, it wouldn't happen. The honest (or dishonest) fact is, Microsoft can't stop people from pirating and hacking their software. Not possible. Ever.

£2.50! That's half a packet of smokes.
Reply:not all people can buy the original copy of an OS of a pc. its normal this days to have an illegal copy of a windows xp. it has no difference from the original. one thing good about the original cd is the cool cd case. and besides.. piracy cant be stop nowadays.. in our country you can buy the illegal copy of windows for just a dollar. or you can even download it from the net for free. its hard to stop piracy. it is already spread across the world
Reply:I bet you feel a bit fed up having spent all that money on a genuine OS when your M8 managed to get a copy for next to nothing . Thats just the luck of the draw. Microsoft don't allow this but their are a lot of clever people out there
Reply:It is hacking , and unfortunately he got away with it...........
Reply:its called piracy..otherwise known as stealing...do you really want to take that chance and go to jail? they dont allow it, theyre actively trying to stop it and in your friends case its borrowed time.
Reply:vista stops all that for now so.............if you need a vista upgrade go to ebay same thing £300.50 less! no get your own operating system for free with ubuntu or other recomeneded free!!!! yours free !!!!!!! p.s. chill
Reply:He paid 2.50 to get his activated? lol he got screwed. I did mine for free and so did thousands of others. But anyway this is not the place to talk about that stuff...not legal and also you will not goto jail lol
Reply:Don't feel cheated you sound like the honest one that won't end up in jail.

Microsoft office 2003 reinstall after reformat?

hi, according to my microsoft office 2003, the software can be used up to 3 home PCs. if i have already installed my office in 3 home PCs, and i want to reformat one of my PCs now to factory state, can i still reinstall microsoft word after reformatting using the same cd? (since i have already maxed the quota given)

thanks in advance!

Microsoft office 2003 reinstall after reformat?
If you are rebuilding one of the 3 computers that you have already installed Office onto, the answer is yes (although it might require a call to MS to get Office activated.)

If installing Office onto this re-formatted machine would give you 4 operational copies of Office I would say, that you will probably will be able to install it. The problem that will arise is that you will not be able to activate / update it.

Hope this helps

I use this software frequently and have also installed office updates but have not lost the feature. Microsoft word?

I've been writing this story for about 6 months now, and I'm about done. However I want to transfur it to Microsoft Word. but every time I open Microsoft Word, it keep asking me to enter my "Product Key" before I can continue typing. Anybody know what a "Product Key" is and where I can find it? If not, anybody got any ideas??

Microsoft word?
Sounds like you bought a computer which came with a demo version of Word. You get a limited number of uses, and then you have to buy the software. When you do, you are given a product key which unlocks the software.

If you don't want to pay for it, consider OpenOffice.org, which is compatible, from http://www.openoffice.org/ instead.
Reply:try using open office its free

http://download.openoffice.org/index.htm...
Reply:A product key is supplied on the documentation that came with your PC or with your MS Word CD.

If you installed an illegal copy of MS word then you need to buy it
Reply:That sounds like a trial copy that will be good for 30 or 60 days. If you haven't used it yet, try just pressing Enter and see if that lets you start using it.

Be warned, though, that there doesn't seem to be any warning near the end of the trial period (or at least many people don't see it), after which Word will let you read the files but not edit them or create more.

One solution to recovering any files you would have locked up in Word format at that time would be to download the free Microsoft Compatibility Pack. It lets you use those files with older versions of Word.

Good luck.
Reply:A poduct key is a long number/letter combination that was provided with the software when you bought it, and once entered proves it is actually yours. Obviously Word was installed incorrectly or was a pirate copy. Some places on the net where you can get pirate keys but I wouldn't use one or tell you as it's illegal and when you use PC on Internet Microsoft spy on you! Well not really but it's still not right.

You might have it manually set to send and receive emails. After you send the email, try to click the button at the top that says "Send/Receive".

About 2 weeks ago i lost all my fonts except for 3 of them on my microsoft office word and other products. Does anyone know where they go so that i can see them in the drop down list in one of the microsoft word pages i pull up ?

Thanks

Normally u can see all of ur fonts on this folder:

C:\WINDOWS\Fonts

If u don;t have a C:/ u just replace it with the letter of ur own drive like D:/ or F:/ or whateva it is. and if u don't have it like that, u can try and search your computer for it, go to star%26gt;search%26gt;files and folders then type Fonts a folder should pop up, open make sure that's the rite folder, ( and How do u know that it's the rite folder, well u said that u only had three different types of fonts so u should see the three files for those three fonts)

Microsoft Word?

I am writing my own xmas cards on Microsoft Word and would like to change the direction of the text on the paper.

Instead of going up and down the page like normal. I would like to turn the text on its side. Then I can fold the paper and glue it into my cards. I hope this makes sense.

The big question is how do I do it? What should I be looking for in Microsoft Word.? So far the only way I have been able to do it is if I have the text inside a text box. The thing is I don’t want the box around my writing when I print it out. Any ideas on how I can do it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks to all.

Microsoft Word?
Well, I would do what you have been doing with the text box. Write the text in the box. Then on the drawing toolbar (you may need to go to view -%26gt;toolbars -%26gt; drawing), click the rotate button and rotate the box how you will. Then right click on the textbox, and choose format textbox. On the screen that appears, you should be in the colors and lines tab. Look in the line section. There should be an option that says color. Click the drop down box, and choose no color. This will make the border invisible so that you won't see it when you print it. Hope this helps!
Reply:You could insert your text into a one row table.

Click inside the table, select FORMAT then TEXT DIRECTION.

Check to ensure that Show Gridlines on your Table Tool Bar is off. Report It

Microsoft word??

how do i copy something from microsoft word into a email message in hotmail so i can send what i wrote in microsoft word to whoever i want to..

btw it has a picture i think thats the reason why its not letting me copy and paste

Microsoft word??
All you have to do is save the document and "attach" it in an e-mail. Look for a button that says "Attachments" or "Attach" or "Attach Files" or something along the lines of that, a box will come up and look for your document.

If you simply copy and paste the words, you'll lose the format, font and some of the characters can get messed up.
Reply:Just copy and paste it then either attach the picture in the document or embed it.
Reply:copy and paste the text only (this will work). Save the picture in a file and send it as an attachment through the email.

good luck!
Reply:actually, you're not supposed to copy and paste. just click the attach files button and search for whatever you need, and attach it.
Reply:Simply save the file and attach it with an e-mail
Reply:1. select text

2. hit 'ctrl' + c

3. enter new email

4. hit 'ctrl' + v

5. send
Reply:Send the file as an attachment

Microsoft Office 2003/2007?

I got a HP laptop with Windows Vista and installed Microsoft Office 2003 on it and somehow Office 2007 also appeared. When I open a file, it automatically opens with 2007. How can I get it to open automatically with Office 2003? I somehow got this to work for Microsoft Word, but nothing else.

Thanks in advance. All help appreciated. :)

Microsoft Office 2003/2007?
Hi

AFAIK, Office 2007 trial comes installed with Vista by default.

Go to Start %26gt; Control Panel %26gt; Programs and Features and uninstall Office 2007 from there. Restart your machine to complete the uninstall.

HTH,

Deep
Reply:Just un-install the Office 2007 it is a trail version anyways. I would consider buying it though if you can afford it, 2007 is much better than 2003 in my everyday usage anyways.

But if you want something like Office 2007 that is cheaper go to www.worldstart.com and visit their software store and go to search and find the Office Suite program. It does the same thing for about $13.

Microsoft office. Stop asking me to save!!??

I am working in Microsoft office....a lot! It is a little time consuming pressing save everytime I have to X out and then hit save. I am using Microsoft office 2007. I want to be able to hit X (close) and it will save itself to the directory. I will be more than happy to save it the first time, but, after I make changes, I want to be able to close, and it will save itself. Thanks!!! 10 points automatically to the person that answers this and it works....

Microsoft office. Stop asking me to save!!??
Don't think thats possible, but you could just press

Ctrl + S at the same time before closing, that will save it for you.
Reply:go to Joe's site for good instructions: http://www.newbieclub.com/
Reply:Before you X out of the document, make sure you have already saved it. There is no "Autosave" option to have it be saved regardless. Just use CTRL+s and that will bring up the save menu which allows you to save. Once it is saved, it will not ask you when you X out (as long as you've made no new additions to the document).

Good luck!

Microsoft Office Renewal?

I recently purchased a new laptop, on the computer was already a Vista version of Microsoft Office, but it was only a 60 day trial. Well the trial has expired, and a screen keeps popping up when i try and use Word that says enter Product Key. Well, I reloaded a new version of Vista, but I still can't open Microsoft Word. What do I need to get to use Word??

Microsoft Office Renewal?
You will need to buy a Full Version copy of any version of Microsoft Office 2007. However, before you install the new Full Version, you will have it uninstall the trial version.

Seeing that my laptop computer has Windows Vista and Microsoft Office Home and Student Edition (Trial) 2007, the version you will need to buy is Office Home and Student Edition 2007 for $150.00 at retailers such as Best Buy, Online Retailers, and other places.
Reply:Try Open Office, a free alternative to Microsoft Office and is completely compatible with Office programs.

OpenOffice.org is a multiplatform and multilingual office suite and an open-source project. Compatible with all other major office suites, the product is free to download, use, and distribute.
Reply:the "free trials" are only good for 30-60 days and are not renewable you nedd a that pointto putchase it or take it out of your system through add/remove programs
Reply:If you have files that are locked up in the new Word 2007 file format (.docx), here’s a possibility for salvaging them. Microsoft offers a free Compatibility pack that allows earlier versions of Word to read Word 2007 files. If you have access to an earlier version, this can at least give you back your documents.

On the other hand, if you’re interested in buying Word (and it IS possible to buy Word without the rest of Office) check out this URL, especially the second group of listings.

Note that the higher of the two prices quoted is for a full version of that program and the lower, for upgrades from existing software. Read the list of upgrade-qualifying software carefully: MS Works is often one, and may have come on your machine.

Good luck.

Open a microsoft word document with open office?

Is there a way to open a Microsoft Word document with Open Office maybe with a file converter program or something.

I've been trying to open a file I emailed my self but I can't. The file is a Microsoft Word document and I only have Open Office.

The document was from Microsoft office 2007. Having trouble finding a converter. =( The file is an attachment in my email. What can I do?

Open a microsoft word document with open office?
I suspect the problem is that it's an Office 2007 document, which is a docx format. This is messing up a lot of people. You might want to go to the Open Office website and see if they've issued any updates or patches so that Open Office can handle the docx format.

The only other solution is when/if you can, go back to where you sent the document from (work? School?) and resave it as a Microsoft word 2003 version (which will be the more common .doc format, and that OpenOffice can handle just fine.)
Reply:In Office 2007 you have to do a "Save As" so it is compatible with older versions of Office and Open Office.

The Office 2007 extensions adds an "x" to the end like, .docx which is incompatible with older versions of Microsoft Office and Open Office.
Reply:Microsoft office 2007 creates documents in docx format.

I think Open Office does not have the converters.

You have to 'Save As' Word 2003 compatible doc file while saving the document in Word.
Reply:try looking for novells Office Open XML converter, it worked for me on linux.

MICROSOFT ZUNE: What size to get?

Right now I'm debating on whether to get a 8 gigabyte (2,000 songs) Microsoft Zune or a 30 gigabyte (7,500 songs) Microsoft Zune. What should I get?

And before you say the 30 gigabyte because it holds more songs, my problem is is that the 30 gigabyte is as big as an ipod video (which is what I think would bother me...) and holds more songs (plus side), and the 8 gigabyte is as big as a regular ipod, but holds less songs.

MICROSOFT ZUNE: What size to get?
i have a 30 gb and it is awsome. remember the bigger the screen the better the video
Reply:It depends on how much you plan on putting on your zune. I have the 80gb and Im having a really hard time filling it up. I have 2794 songs 15 videos(each one about 45+ minutes) and 47 pictures and it isnt even at 20gb yet. As far as the size go its not really that heavy at all so even if you get the bigger one its not really that noticable when its in your pocket( at least for me). If you don't want to put videos on there like you said and don't plan on loading it up with music. then get the 8gb. But I really like having the nice big screen. Even if you are not watching videos on it its still nice to have. But I will warn you that for me and a lot of other people I know that have one, once you put all your stuff on there that you want you find yourself wanting to put more and more....Its almost like I feel like I have to fill ever gig.. Its weird I know.

Bottom line: if you dont want that much content get an 8gb

If you want more content go with the 30gb
Reply:2000 songs isnt enough in my opinion.

What is Microsoft 2003?

The problem I'm having is that I don't want Microsoft 2003 but when I'm on screen and go to click on a, "Link" the microsoft down load screen comes up and this is what I see: "Microsoft Office 2003" Setup, user name, initials,Orginazation. In the boxes below type ur 25 character product key etc etc. I can not go to the link i clicked on without this coming up. How can I stop this?

What is Microsoft 2003?
There is no product called Microsoft 2003. I think you mean Microsoft Office 2003, a suite of office applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.

Your getting the setup screen apear because Office isn't installed correctly, you'll need to obtain an Office CD from retailler or something with a valid key and enter it into the product key box. Alternatively, you can uninstall Office from the Add\Remove programs icon in Control panel.
Reply:Un-install MS-Office 2003 and get the free %26amp; compatible Open Office, from:
Reply:Its microsoft office. You have to find out the code issued with your software.

Microsoft i got hi-speed internet cable throue insight/roadrunner i have plugs that needs fix for this?
You can try uninstalling IE 7 and see what that does, but most likely you have lost the programs. I have not installed IE 7 yet and have heard that there are some problems with it. I use a 6.0 version and have not had any problems. I make it a policy to not upgrade any program until it has been out at least a year. That way most of the bugs are worked out before I get it. Are you by any chance running Vista? I have heard there are major conflicts between Vista and IE7.

If you can access the computer, you need to save any important files on a disk. It sounds like you need to reboot the computer to restore it to original configuration. You should have gotten a disk when you bought the computer that has all of the original programs on it. You will then need to reload any other programs that you have installed on the computer.

The only way to avoid having to do this is if you have a program like "go back" where you can go back to the computer configuration for a specific date. Restore found under "accessories" and "system tools" will not restore lost programs. If you have not bought a restoration program, you will need to reload the computer. The other way to avoid this - backup your computer daily. If the same thing happens again, you can restore it to the previous days format.

MICROSOFT WORD HELP now????????????????????/?

i know how to make a resume on microsoft word but i would like the templates. where do i find templates. the vista desgin of microsoft word is so ***** garbage. also the ruler which indicates the length of the page has changed, how do i restore default settings.

MICROSOFT WORD HELP now????????????????????/?
The resume templates can be found by going to File - New. That will open a "New Document" window (look on the right-hand side of your screen). It looks sort of like a "Help" window. There you can choose the resume template you want. As far as what happened to your ruler, go to View and see which layout you're in. I believe only the Web Layout View has the ruler anyway. But if you're needing to change your bottom margin, go to File - Page Setup. You can change your margins there.

Microsoft and other video gaming?

I have always wanted to know all the video game systems ever created by microsoft and other companies. now if you only have sony and nintendo consoles in mind go to my profile and answer the question sony or nintedo. but if you have a console that was a big hit and wasn't sony nintendo or microsoft then name it here. ten points to the person who does(handheld and portables too)

Microsoft and other video gaming?
The only consoles that Microsoft ever made was the Xbox (2001) and the Xbox 360 (2005, I think). There are rumors about an Xbox portable, but nothing's been confirmed.

However, they've been making games for years. I think their first big hit was Microsoft Flight Simulator, which started in the early to mid nineties.
