Microsoft word?

I'm having some trouble with microsoft word, well I created some charts and diagams on excel and I transferred it over to Microsoft word and I want to place the chart and diagram side by side. But it won't allow me. Does anyone know how I can over come this problem?

What *I* would do is insert a two-column, one-row table and paste the first item into the left-hand cell, and the 2nd into the right-hand cell.
