Which one is better? Microsoft or Macintosh?

Which desktop computers are better? Microsoft or Macintosh? In General, like speed, security, usability, and stability. My friend thinks Microsoft is better in every way (He's never used a Macintosh before...) and that Macintosh is stupid because it has one button, a different desktop design then Microsoft, and is expensive and everyone should switch to Microsoft (Which a lot of people are using right now...)

Though he is a good friend, his opinions I HATE the most... Particularly this one...

Which one is better? Microsoft or Macintosh?
ima not techinical at all but it dosnt take a geniuos to know that microsoft is the best if your going to buy a computer buy a dell computer thire the best!!! you can custamize it yoursself or you can go to a costco near you and chek if they have some thire becasue they have the best warrenty ever!!
Reply:Mac has better security and output but it is expensive and lacks some features that can get in Windows. But now Mac can run both Window and Mac. So now Mac is still better than Windows.
Reply:Not true, they are about the same. People only say that Microsoft is better because it's all they have used, or they have used the old macintosh's that they practically gave away, try the new ones and people will surely change their minds.
Reply:Macs are good for multimedia stuff and that's about it. My girlfriend does film production stuff on hers. Having said that, it pisses her off a lot becuase it can't do simple things that a PC can, and she is a Mac person, so she is not biased. If you are really stupid with computers and are affraid you will get spyware and stuff then you'll probably want a Mac. I always say macs are like a bike with training wheels. It's safer and it gets the job done, but it's very limited in what you can do. I don't like macs because they try to do things to make things easier and it's actually a lot worse or you can't do something that is really easy on a PC. Additionally, they are overpriced compared to PCs of the same performance because only Apple makes computers that run Mac operating systems, so they have a mini-monopoly.
Reply:Microtosh, I mean Macinsoft! Gah....but seriously, Microsoft wins with Premium Vista. PC's are the supreme gaming systems, macs are more for designer-media usage. Microsoft is currently leading in the coolest GUI OS amongst other products. The Microsoft office product line is also the business world standard.

I honestly don't think desktop Macs will be around 50 years from now, they're todays IBM. (IBM doesn't make desktop computers anymore, they left that market if you remember)
Reply:I am having the same problem, except my friend likes Macs. I have a PC, and I want to get a new computer. Personally, I like my PC. It runs very fast, and it is easier to use. PCs are compatible with more software, and they last longer. They also cost less. Macs are good too; they come with a bunch of cool stuff and have a built in webcam. They also have Appleworks, which I think works better for word processing. Macs are more expensive, but they take up less room, and if your setting up a network, Macs are easier.

90% of the world's computers are PCs, but Macs are coming in to style too.

If it were me, and I had lots of money to spare, I would buy a Mac computer and put Windows Vista on it. But for now, I really like my PC. :-)
Reply:yes I would go with the PC computer mac are not good as it used to be a long time ago chepaer and better computer PC are easier to use than Mac.
Reply:well i have to agree with your friend, the one button mouse does pose some usability problems, but i think your question is misguided. you should be asking what is better, pc or mac... microsoft is the company that makes the operating system, just like mac's os/x and the linux operating system. personally i like the pc better simply becuase there is a larger software market for it. I mean, if you go into a retail store, how many programs(games or otherwise) do you see that are made for mac? not very many, most retailers(unless it is a specialty store) sell pc products and software. Alot of people argue that mac's are more stable, but all systems have their problems. As far as security, they're about the same. As for usability, the mac os/x operating system does have a nice user friendly interface(for those who are called newbies), but if they would just make a dang mouse that has more than one button, they'd be set, lol. you can "right-click" with a mac mouse, but it requires you press a button on the keyboard at the same time you click the mouse(very unaccommodating if you use the mouse more than the keyboard)

It just depends on who you ask, or what you are actually planning on using it for. If you're only going to use it for productivity software, the mac's the way to go, but if you want to use graphic-intensive programs(games and programs like photoshop), go with a pc.
Reply:It's a heated debate over which is better, I'd say which one is more functional and that award goes to Mac.

The one button mouse is history on Macs so you can right click your way into all sorts of things.

Honestly for the most informed opinions on this matter go to Cnet.com and read the editor and user reviews for both Vista and MacOSX, Then compare the top of the line Mac, With a Top of the line PC and read those reviews.

Overall, Macs did better on both Editor and User Reviews and I assume they are unbiased.
