Microsoft XP 2007?

Well I got microsoft xp 2007 it was pre-installed but that computer went to crap so naturally I wanted to keep everything and not have to buy the software. So I put the HD in one I made and now it asks me to register my liscense with microsoft. Now what if I waited out would it just bring me to that screen where I have to or will I be able to use my computer.

Microsoft XP 2007?
You have just discovered one of the downsides to getting a computer that has propritary software that HP and many others use to make there own copies of XP software that allows them to add a bunch of extra crap on your computer that you do not need. This is the reason to always buy or install the software direct from the software manufactures Disc.

You will have to do one of 2 things

Either contact where you bought the computer and get the Software Key, or look throgh the paperwork and hope they included it.

Contact Microsoft for the key, or Purchase a new fresh copy of XP from Microsoft without all the sdded junk HP was kind enough to add on to there copy.

Reply:NO, you need a liscence number. If you want a crack or a serial you can find it in the net. But its better if you have the serial number. It is usually found on the CD case.
Reply:I think you mean Microsoft Office 2007? IF so, look on the back of your computer to see if there's a Microsoft certificate of authenticity sticker, the license should be there. No, it will never just go away. Don't wait it out.
Reply:Huh? There is no such thing as XP 2007. Perhaps you mean Vista?

You can do what you did - it is legal (one license per machine) - you will have to activate the product key. No need to register - just activate over the Internet. As long as that product key is not activated on any other machine you will be ok.

If you delay activation - you can still use your computer for 30 days with daily reminders popping up from Microsoft.
Reply:You mean Vista right?

You could try just putting in the serial from the computer you bought and then it'll ask you to call Microsoft to activate it. When you call, tell them you had to replace the motherboard. Don't say you removed the hard drive and placed it into another computer.

They'll give you the activation then
