I own Microsoft Office 2003. I completely cleared my HD and reinstalled everything...?

I legally own Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003. I cleared my hard drive (to get rid of viruses, worms, unnecessary crap) and reinstalled Windows XP and all of my essential programs. Office is the last thing left on my list.

Anyway, since this disk is licensed for up to three home PCs, how do I reinstall it to this computer without using another one of the licenses? (((As I used one license for this computer before I cleared it, and another license for another one of my computers. I don't want to use my last license because I plan to get another computer soon. I don't feel the need to upgrade to Office 2007 yet or buy another copy of Office 2003.))) Does Microsoft have a way to tell that it was already installed on this computer, but uninstalled? Does Microsoft even keep track of how many computers got the program from this disk?

Yes, when you register it again, Microsoft will get information from your computer and they will know it was already installed on this computer.
Reply:As long as you did not change hardware on your system they will have your old setup in their database. So you should not be charged that last license. If you want to make sure, I would call MS and let them know that you had to do a complete wipe and install to your system. They are use to this and should work with you to make sure you will not burn your license.
Reply:Hay. I've installed a legal version of Office 2003, a bunch of times on my same computer...I can't see a problem as I never had one...

I think Microsoft gets mad when you re-install on a totally different computer, not one that's just upgraded.

Reply:I think you're confusing 'license' with 'activations'. I have MS Office 2003 Pro. I've reinstalled it at least 3 times. Never an issue.

Your '3 licenses' means that you can have the software active on 3 PC's simultaneously. As long as you don't exceed that you should never have an issue, regardless of how many times you install the software.

If MS only allowed installation 3 times they'd have a number of very pissed off people. Don't worry about it. Reinstall it and go about your day.
