Microsoft word doesn't work?

'microsoft office word has not been installed for the current user. please run set up to install the application' is the msg i get. i bought a new laptop and microsoft was working well until 3 weeks ago. can u help me pls?

I am sure what you had was a trial version of MS Word and the trial period is expired. Just about any new PC comes with a trial version of MS Office software that include word. Unless you paid for it extra, you did not get a full version. Plus if you did pay extra for the Word or Office software, they would have given you an installation CD. You need to uninstall the program fully, buy a new Office software and reinstall it.


On second thought, if you have only used Word for 3 weeks, it should still be working because the trial period is usually 90 days. Call your laptop manufacturer, tell them your dilemma and ask them to ship you a copy of the installation CD and the product key. They may charge you 5 to 10 bucks for shipping, that's all. Once you get the CD, uninstall all office software from add remove programs of your control panel and then clean install the software from CD. Good luck.

Reply:Did you make a new user account three weeks ago? If there are other user accounts try them and see if it works there.


If you have the Microsoft Word installation CD you could try to uninstall Word, then reinstall it with the CD, and during installation make sure that it is installed for All Users.
