I have been given the option of getting one or other of the above, I have been on microsoft etc and they say they're all wonderful but I can't find what programs they have on them. I'm a home pc user and I want the standard word, excel etc bundle. Which one's best for me?
I also have the option of 2003 professional. Please excuse my lack of computer knowledge! Thanks
Microsoft office xp professional or microsoft office 2003 standard?
2003 pro.. newer version which means longer support.
Reply:the XP pro suite is
word, excel, powerpoint, access, frontpage, outlook
Reply:dont get either!, get the free office suite from openoffice.org, it is brilliant, and can open microsoft equivalent files, much better program, bill gates makes enough. i have beenusing this suite for ages and it is really gooooooood, try it before you go with the microsoft, i think you will be pleased with the results!
Reply:As long as the version you get has Word, Excel, Access and Powerpoint then it doesn't really matter. Be wary of versions that don't, such as Small Business Systems versions that leave out Access and PowerPoint.
Reply:With those options, the determining factor is what applications you want. If you particularly want Access and PowerPoint, get 2003 Pro or XP Pro. If you can live without them, get 2003 Standard.
Reply:Frankly, I can't see a new home user ever needing programs like Access or FrontPage - I can't see many businesses needing them!
Also, Office XP is "Office 2002", so I'd say go for the newer Office 2003 Standard. Its what I've got, and I only use Excel and Word, not PowerPoint or Outlook.
Reply:XP pro everytime its user friendly
