My laptop came preloaded with Office 2007, and I have a couple of days left. My question is if anyone uses Open Office?
Is it like Microsoft 2007?
If I were to write a paper in Open Office and then take it to my school, will Microsoft Office 2007 recognize my paper?
I really don't want to purchase Microsoft Office 2007 because I heard Open Office is similar to it. I'd appreciate any feedback to the similarities of these two programs. Thanks!
Anyone use Microsoft Office 2007 or Open Office?
I've been using Open Office since I formatted my computer a few months back and I love it. The interface is pretty much the same as MS Office and the file formats are compatible, meaning you can save files in Open Office as MS Office files so the suckers who still use MS Office can read the files. I use Calc more than anything and it was a very easy transition from Excel.
It beats shelling out hundreds for MS Office. Sure you can get the MS version for free, too, but it's illegal and way too much a hassle to go through torrents, etc.
Reply:OO is free.
OO does all the stuff you'll need that MS Office does.
OO can save as word files so you can use OO and MS Office.
Save the $$ and go w/ Open Office.
Reply:I use MS Office 2007 at work, and I use Open Office at hope. I have found Open Office to be a very versatile solution. I have found them to be compatible with each other as well.
Hence I firmly recommend Open Office, plus if you don't get along with it you can always go out and buy the other.

Reply:office 2007 has more features, and according to many websites and reviews, it is better.
Remember, I'm not putting my opinion here like other people, I'm using real sources.
