is microsoft works compatible with microsoft office on opening files in either one?

Works files are not compatible with MS Office. In Word, you can save as .rtf which will open in Works.





The best solution is to NOT use MS Works, uninstall it and get OpenOffice instead. (it's free.)





Or if you can't download/install anything use an online office suite such as Zoho or Google Docs.
