i have just bought this computer the operating system is microsoft xp professional, but i cannot find microsoft word anywere does anyone know were i can find it or is it possible that the computher doesnt have this programme? but i asume that it will come with it as standard!

Microsoft word????????????
doesnt come as standard. try open office it is free http://www.openoffice.org/
Reply:It comes pre loaded with Microsoft Vista.
Reply:Afraid it comes as extra, threes plenty of free Word processing programs about. Hope you've got some firewall and virus guard software, as XP basic guard not up to much!!!
Reply:If you want it as standard you have to ask and you will have to pay extra.

You will have to buy it seperatly and remember NEVER assume that your computer comes with office or any equivelent for any other operating system.

So NO it does not come with it.

If you don't want to pay extra for Microsoft Office try :

Reply:I have experienced the same thing. But i contacted microsoft and it doesnt come with any XP operating systems. To buy it go to this address: Amazon.co.uk or windowsmarketplace.co.uk
Reply:You have to buy it, and as usual it is not cheap. There is a good alternative though. Download Open Office from the Internet http://www.openoffice.org/ . It uses it's own file format but can also save and read Word documents. Give it a try if you don't like it you can always remove it and it's cost you nothing. Hope this helps.
Reply:Seriously mate just try open office at www.openoffice.org

its free and its just like the microsoft office and its free:)

Reply:Microsoft Word does not come as standard. It is part of the Office package
Reply:it has to be bought seperately
Reply:You may find a 'slimmed down' version of Word installed as a part of Microsoft Works, but Word itself is a part of Microsoft Office Suite %26amp; has to be bought. (If you don't get a trial version pre-insalled).

Try this for a free-version.

Reply:Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, sir, but Word does not come as standard. It's a separate programme that has to be purchased separately.

You could give OpenOffice a try. It's a freeware office product that is able to open and save text files as Word compatible.

There are also other word processors that are Word compatible. Do a search in Google or Yahoo to find them.
Reply:No, it isn't always included. You can most likely download it though, for a small fee.

If not it is easily bought in most PC shops, usually as part of Works suite.
Reply:when i got my new pc with xp i got microsoft works with it. word processer, spreadsheets etc
Reply:MS Word is not part of Windows XP

You will need Microsft Office to have that luxury I am afraid :-(
Reply:not all computers come with microsoft word standard, some come with it as a trial version, or not at all, my xp didn't come with it standard, i got my friend to give me hers %26amp; program it on my computer
Reply:some computers have 2 dounlode but i had it free it is a writing system so u can maqke letters and stuff
