Is it necessary to register Microsoft Office 2000 with Microsoft?

I had purchased a package of brand new Microsoft Office 2000 (Small Business Edition) from ebay 2 days ago, and had installed it to my PC. However, I was not able to register my Microsoft Office 2000 (Small Business Edition) through the Registration Wizard.

I had heard that if you DO NOT REGISTER the Microsoft Office 2000 with Microsoft, you will not be able to use the Office 2000 after using it for 50 times. Is this true ?

Since I can't register the Office 2000 through the Registration Wizard, is there any other convenient method to register it? (there was no registration card in my package of Office 2000)

Office 2000 is just like Windows 2000, in that it came just before activation came in, so theorectically you can use the same key as many times as you want to.

Reply:Forget about Microsoft Office! You can download OpenOffice.org for free and it does the same thing Microsoft does at this link: http://www.openoffice.org . You can even import any of your existing documents to OpenOffice.org.

OpenOffice.org Writer = Microsoft Word

OpenOffice.org Calc = Microsoft Excel

OpenOffice.org Impress = Microsoft Powerpoint

Good Luck! :P
