Trojan Looksky Virus & Microsoft?

I was looking on the Microsoft for a fix for the Trojan Looksky Fix and they have a Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for it. This is the link: http://www.microsoft.com/security/malwar...

I know there a program called SmitFraudFix but I don't know much about that program and I'd rather go with the Microsoft d/l. Does anyone know about it? Does it work? Any help is appreciated. Thanks so much.

SmitFraudFix works.

Have a look here on how to clean your computer and protect it:

Reply:I would use Microsoft first, then the other program. But then a lot of Microsoft's stuff doesn't work.
Reply:You may be best off to post a HijackThis log at a forum that deals with these.

Some give quite a lot of specific removal instructions, that are in some cases, ongoing.

Castlecops have a MalwareRemoval procedure posted which is a good first step. Indeed, they request users go through that prior to posting the log.

Update your antivirus and spyware protection programs.

Turn off system restore (right-click My Computer, choose Properties, then System Restore tab) and restart in Safe mode (F8 while restarting).

Run full-system scans, spyware and virus.

Restart your computer. Turn system restore back on.

Create a new system restore point. Click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore and create a new restore point.

Probably a good idea to clean the registry too (I use Ccleaner).

Reply:SmitfraudFix is a specialised tool to remove the Smitfraud infection ONLY. It is excellent for what it is, but it cannot remove Looksky (AKA Locksky).

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is a safe., semi-specialised tool that can remove SOME infections on this list here:
