Microsoft word 2000 problem?

my microsoft word is not working right in gramer when i hit space it puts a dot like this . on page instead of spacing for example I.bought.a.fish.at.the.pet.store. thats what it does its suppose to go like this I bought a fish at the pet store I know its the settings can some one tell me how to put it back to normal? My microsoft office is the 2000 version

1. On the Tools menu, click Options.


2. Click the View tab.


3. Under Formatting Marks, click to either select or clear the Hidden Text check box.


4. Click OK.
Reply:Click the button that looks like a backwards bold "P" with a double bar. It's tracking characters and formatting.
