Does microsoft vista come with something like microsoft word?
I'm not sure what "kelly D" is saying but you do have to buy it separately. Vista and XP do come with simple word editing programs like notepad, but you have to buy microsoft word separately. The new word is Office 2007, but it costs almost $200 or more. In addition, if you are buying a computer from Dell or HP or the manufacturer check and see if they provide Office preinstalled for free. Hope this helps.
Reply:vista comes with microsoft works 8.0
Reply:I have vista home and it has microsoft works which is the same thing.
Reply:microsoft word comes with separate ms software called MS Office 2003/2007.

this software doesnt come with windows or vista...

YOU HAVE TO BUY IT
Reply:*sigh* why don't you just ask him karlyn?
Reply:No. That comes with office as always. ~
Reply:None of Microsofts's operating systems (Vista, XP, 2000, 98, 95, etc) come with Microsoft Office (which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), they want you to BUY it.

Fortunately for you, like the other answerer said, there is OpenOffice [www.OpenOffice.org]. Its free, and looks 99% like its Microsfot rivals. If you have existing Word documents, you can even open them up using OpenOffice.
Reply:you have to still buy it. all they give you is wordpad and notepad.

you could always opt for open office, its very similar to Word and all the other office apps and best of all its free.
Reply:Microsoft Word comes with all Microsoft/Windows programs (XP, Office, Vista, etc). You don't have to worry about buying it separately.
