Knowing Microsoft's questionable commitment to quality, I am concerned that there are holes and back doors for hackers to enter with. The new version of TurboTax requires Microsoft.net Framwork 2.0 and I am considering not using TurboTax this year do to my lack of trust with Microsoft.net. Is this reservation founded or false?
Is Microsoft.net Framework safe to install on my machine, with XP?
I'm using .NET apps and programming for .NET. Had no problems with it.
Reply:yes it is , for some programs to run , you have to have the .net framework to be installed ...
Reply:The .NET framework is absolutely safe to install. 2.0 has been released for a long time and many programs require it to run their software. There are no more security threats in the .NET Framework than in any other Windows update.
Reply:Yes, It is safe, but be sure that you download the security updates that are available. If you neglect to do that as soon as you install it you are opening a huge door to a good number of people that know how to do very bad things to your computer and you! Just run windows update express and they should be downloaded automatically.
Reply:It's definitely safe. Saying "questionable commitment to quality" isn't really a true statement. Many programs use the .NET framework and therefore require it to be installed - you've run across one of the many examples.
