Should microsoft get on the Blu Ray wagon for 360?

I am dying to watch some HD movies but now microsoft are stating that they want to concentrate on downloads, which take ages to put on disk, you can't keep them, and they only go up to 720p. I love my xbox, had no problems with it for 2 years and love the exclusive games but i am seriously thinking about getting the PS3. With some great games coming this year and alot of games i like the look of on both consoles there aren't as many exclusives any more. I know all the pros and cons of both consoles so don't tell me but if microsoft were to produce a bluray built in or add-on i wouldn't have these doubts. Should Microsoft for the sake of their pride stop being idiots and get one made ASAP? Are PS3 getting hd downloads too? And when the hell is HOME going o be released? Any other 360 owner feeling this way?

Should microsoft get on the Blu Ray wagon for 360?
If it were early on I would say yes, but at this point it's a big NO.

The main reason is that it would be another attachement that only plays movies as the games would not be made for them.

At this point it should be heavily considered for the next gen system (yikes I can't believe I'm saying next gen.. but chances are those systems are probably in the works)
Reply:i didn't know if they could....wouldn't sony have a patent or something on it? I'm sure sony wouldn't accomodate microsoft seeing as they're head to head.
Reply:No, no they shouldnt.
Reply:Well, it depends if the studios that are Blu-Ray exclusive stay that way. If enough studios go Blu-Ray exclusive and no HDDVD's are created, then Microsoft will get one.

It's possible, that if HDDVD's are faded out, that Microsoft will include Blu-Ray in their newest console.

But just save up for a PS3, and then you'll have the best of both worlds. That's what I'm doing.
Reply:I think that they should. I think Mircosoft bet against Sony that their system, which came out before the PS3, would win the format war. By switching to blu-ray they could help use 360 owners that have waited for a "winner" to come out.
Reply:I think they well, but I don't think there should be a rush. Right now with how much a blu-ray player would cost, it would still end up pushing people towards PS3.

I can't remember how the HD-DVD drive was when it first came out. But having an add on Blu-ray player for an extra $200 even, doesn't seem worth it. I think they would need to get the cost down to at least under 150. Or do some bundle thing at the current price setting (instead of lowering it).

I don't see Microsoft running into the blu-ray right away, but i would expect something by Christmas if not a little sooner.
Reply:nope its too late now to make a built in one.maybe they could make a cheap blu ray external player, but internal seems like a huge no
